That was actually a good half to start the season. The Union very slowly picked up steam after playing 35 minutes in their own half. Coach Curtin has a plan. Let the Canuks get tired and frustrated and Pontius steal the game late. Sneaky Greeks! Curtin - coach of the year - heard it here first.
I think its sad Tommy keeps spouting off that Simpson isn't getting any service. It looks to me like his teammates have no confidence in his abilities given that Simpson keeps turning over the ball, or being manhandled by the defenders. And shit, Herbers is bad.
Sapong has to start, they still haven't landed a true replacement. I'd rather see the Jamaican at Steel in that role. They haven't replaced Nog or Barney. They have to play different.......dirty......ugly. Treat every game like they're playing for 0-0 unless the opponent falls asleep and makes a mistake. New Coach by summer.
Can't we ever do better than having Herbers as an auto-starter on the wing? How many times last year were the Union immediately more threatening on the attack when he was subbed off for a bit more skill?
Bedoya needs to drop back a little to get the ball. The only "offense" they have right now is Medunjanin and Jones playing a long ball out wide.
Well duh they're playing Vancouver, who are about as entertaining as a wet paper bag. Robinson parks the bus and plays for the counter. The Union are playing conservatively on the road with 4 new starters, one of whom is 19 years old. They also want to limit the exposure of their two battleships at CB to the speedy Vancouver counter attack. Which BTW is Vancouver's only offense. What the HELL did you exactly expect? Let's not all act surprised that the Union are going to keep it tight until the last 10 minutes or so and hope to nick a goal or be happy playing out a draw 3000+ miles away from home. Jesus, RBNY fans were saying the same things about BWP his first half season in the league too. At least give Simpson a couple of games before declaring him the worst signing ever..... Oh and Bedoya at the 10 is not working. At all. There's no service to Simpson, not any penetrating dribbling into the final third.
Brutal as expected. No real chemistry. Gooch caught ball watching on almost every play. Simpson is terrible. Jones has had a decent shift, so there's that, at least.
So Simpson sucks. Jones looks like a 19 year old Creavalle. The tactics make no sense with the personnel. But the Whitecaps do have Sheanon Williams on the field so I still have hope.
I listened to Ives Galarcep's podcast this week and was somewhat surprised when he picked the Union to finish this season in fourth place in the eastern conference, and now I'm even more surprised based on our small sample size at the moment. Try moving the cursor all the way to the edge of your screen and wait a bit? Worked earlier today for me when I did that. Fab taking out the linesman got me LOLing
does it annoy anyone else that we have three standing around a free kick everytime and maybe 4 around the box to receive against 7 or 8 defenders. The training ground act might work once or twice but we need bodies, especially our bigger guys in the box to make any of these free kick opportunities even remotely possible scoring chances
Whitecaps trying to mess with the Revs for title of worst overall haircuts. lol...I like how Pontius elected to try to pass it to himself rather than Jones.
