He's getting word of the pick right before the announcement. He's a clown. He's not guessing, he's not analyzing, he's just hearing. Matt Doyle is the one who would know and he's waiting like the rest of us.
******** Jersey. ******** RB. O FFS United. Playing for United is a dream come true? No mention of RB.
Yes I have bias, but I'm perplexed why no one picks Adonijah Reid and stashes him in their USL club rather than these likely 2nd round burn outs.
Think I'd eat a gun. Wait, better watch what I say. He could still end up with the Quakes. Do we know where AJ went? Very Kinnear move to pick up LA cast-offs.
BS, we have a TON of space available and every team gets $1.2m in TAM this year. Plus, the rumor is Jones is getting $525k. Even at a higher cap hit, we've got plenty of money.
I'm also surprised that Shome and Reid are still available (Shome more than Reid). Generation Adidas guys don't usually fall this far
FC Dallas takes the 17 year old Canadian. Who would have thought they would select someone that young?
Maybe I'm just being pessimistic but what if it turns out that Jones has a German offer now and we decide to meet it at $1m. That plus VanDamme plus another player and that money can get eaten up pretty fast. In any case, $125k of GAM hardly buys you anything. So who do we need the money for?
You can buy down the cap hits of any of the DP's you may be bringing in. Honestly depends on how many higher salary players you guys are targeting. And there goes the other Canadian GA.
If that's the case, then it was a terrible move. Essentially: 36 year old Jones at $1m/year + $125k of AM for AJ + 1st round pick. Gross. Especially considering we're apparently chasing Biglia and Breinburg. However, it does depend on how big Jelle and Gyasi's raises are, but based on their 2016 salaries, plus 3 full season DPs this year, we'd still have about $850k available for the 6 remaining senior roster spots. That's only considering the $1.2m in TAM that every team gets. Other TAM/GAM acquired, carried-over or given by the league goes on top of that. Plenty of money.
