He's taller than 1.87... is maza taller than him? What's maza? 6'3?
Either way, jozy is a generous 6'1, and a good athlete.. brick touch. Raul is soft on the ball for a big lad..

Well, he looks taller when he plays for the NT that's for sure. :p

But well, I look tall down here and I'm only 1.81 m.

It's kinda sad.. I'd love to meet Diego Reyes, but I'd dwarf him and be a decade and a half older...
When I moved back from gdl to dc, I couldn't find a programming job, immediately.. so my cousin Seamus let me work the door at one of his pubs. Steve Blake would walk by here and there.. was surprised that he was about my height.

he did pretty well in netherlands 39 golas in 67 games.

villareal has fallen off the map since they got rid of jozy...they havent exactly been lighting it up without him.

defoe and altidore are different players with different styles....i admit altidore did not play well for sunderland...but it is not as simple as he is not good enough for EPL....its more complex than that. first of all, defoe was allowed to play with a strike partner whereas altidore was isolated as a lone striker. altidore has never played well for usmnt or club when isolated alone up top. second, defoe grew up in england...he had a much better chance of playing well at a horrible club like that than altidore.....and he deserves credit for succeeding where altidore couldnt....but he is much more suited to that style of play than jozy.

if you wanna compare players you could say....defoe washed out of mls whereas jozy took toronto to MLS cup.....

i admit that altidore is up and down and has had a problem maintaining consistent form...but he is in the form of his life right now.

he has scored internationally against: mexico, spain, chile, germany, colombia,.....

how many strikers in the world can say the same???

his is a case of being in a few bad situations but having all of the talent in the world.

not every player is good enough to overcome everything all on their own when they are in a situation that is not favorable....look at messi...how come he cant win the world cup?? or pretty much any competition with argentina?? is it because messi is "not good enough"??

of course not...you must take everything into account when looking at why a player is successful or not in different situations....when a player fails to make the desried impact, it is not always merely because the player wasnt good enough.

Most people here like Jozy, but that is a hell of a lot of excuses to make. Maybe Jozy is not that good and maybe, maybe MLS is not that good of a league.

Yes last year 4th placed, Champions league qualified Villarreal has fallen off the map since they lost freaking Jozy Altidore. Your posts that were quoted on weren't that bad but this is one of the dumbest things I've ever read.

No matter how you slice it a Jozy never became the American Drogba like so many of the US fans predicted 8 years ago.

IKR? The delusion is rich with this one. Villareal just dropped 3 goals on Madrid jr and sit 4th, in what many consider to be the best league in the world. My, have they fallen hard since Jozy left.

Villarreal missed out on so many champions league goals while letting jozy never score anywhere but Holland..

I ran into Duilio Davino at a bar in Houston years ago. I was surprised that I was slightly taller then him. I mean he was not a big player but he was a national team caliber defender. I would have thought you had to be at least 6' Players look larger on TV.

No. I said I though you "should" be at least 6' to be a defender at international level. Or at least that's what I meant to say.
