John made Kicker's team of the week (second time this season) for his performance against Wolfsburg. After 13 games, Hertha is currently third in the Bundesliga table, trailing only Bayern (3 points) and RB Leipzig (6 points).

Not without writing a really long post, but it boils down to Hertha being in West Berlin and the subsides the entire city got for living there. Their fan base was never really passionate about them.
He's been consistently good with HBSC. It also helps having a coach who didn't throw him to the wolves when he had a couple of hiccups. JAB is a mentality guy.
Yeah he had some problems with Jos Luhukay was trying to be all "tough love" with him. Seems to be working much better with Dardai.
http://www.bz-berlin.de/berlin-sport/hertha-bsc/schlechte-nachrichten-ohne-brooks-gegen-bremen (in German) Taking the week off: Bitter, because Brooks was last against the VfL Wolfsburg the outstanding man on the defensive. There he came on 122 ball contacts, won all two bouts against national player Mario Gomez. But Dardai wants to take care of him: "I'd rather give him a break than risk something and then he'll be six weeks off."
To expand, it sounds like his achilles tendon was hampering him a bit. Dardai basically said it's not worth him going this weekend, since he doesn't want it to be something that would cause him to sit out 6 weeks: http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...el_pause-fuer-brooks-hoffnung-bei-weiser.html http://www.sportal.de/hertha-bsc-pal-dardai-nimmt-john-anthony-brooks-raus-1-2016120969734100000
A bit concerning he is having so many injury problems this early in his career. Hopefully he will learn to manage his body with time and can avoid them in the future.
JAB's a big guy. Not just tall, but heavy, probably will be in the 200 lbs. range by the time he's 26 or so. He's also a jumper, a guy who goes high, a threat in set pieces and good at protecting high crosses. When you're big and a jumper, you have to be very careful with your knees and ankles. One bad landing and it's game over. See Onyewu.
JAB will miss the Leipzig match according to Dardai today. Hertha currently sit 3rd and have two matches left before winter break (Leipzig & Darmstadt).
He might not be back until January then. If they get a decent result against Leipzig they'll be at home to Darmstadt, an over-achieving team who have stopped playing beyond themselves and have "brave-but-doomed relegation battlers" written all over them. Hertha's back-up CBs should be able to handle a shot-shy side with the BL's joint-weakest goals for and joint second-weakest goals against figures, so why risk aggravating an achilles so close to the break?
Hertha BSC @HerthaBSC 2h2 hours ago Back in the game ️Erstes Training des Jahres läuft! Wieder mit dabei: Brooks und Langkamp #welcomeback #hahohe
Joined team training today and will travel with the team to Spain http://www.morgenpost.de/berlin/art...in.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
I wonder if Brooks would place somewhere differently if he played for the German national team. Vallejo is the only non German ahead of him. Vogt and Orban are the only uncapped Germans ahead of him.
I would pay to watch any european team play our qualifiers in Honduras, costa rica, panama in the heat.
It's based only on the last six months. They don't think he was world class in that period. They did think he was considered World Class the 6 months before that (WK-2 means he was WeltKlasse and was number 2 in the summer).
