Eh, probably a little "cultural exchange" between two clubs owned by the same folks. GK isn't a need at Swansea and Hamid certainly isn't an improvement over the incumbent.

I think Hamid's better than Fabianski.

    Of course you do...

The guy was only 2nd in the golden glove race in his 1st year at Swansea and starts for a top 20 int'l side (ahead of the starting GK's at Roma and Bournemouth), but Bill Hamid is better than him...

Have you watched him this season? He's doing about as bad as you could, without fumbling the ball into his own net. He's one of the biggest problems in the starting lineup.

Hamid just doesn't get the respect he deserves from some. He's proven himself as the clear best GK in MLS the last few years. American players in general don't get the respect they deserve. How do we get all these good results in international tournaments without many players in top leagues? Evidently, our players aren't as bad as some people think, and if American players had free movement to top European leagues like European players have, I think you'd see players like Hamid and some others establish themselves in top leagues. Take a look at the difference in players in top leagues and teams that countries like Switzerland, Poland, Croatia have, compare that to the USA, and then compare the results. We don't overachieve as much as some think, our players are a lot better than they get credit for.

Of course I have. And he's been the least of Swansea's problems.

Guzan is warming the bench in England. Time to look at others. I still think the 2018 starting spot is up for grabs. Hopefully we don't see Yarbrough anymore.

Agreed. If Bingham were playing for a bigger club in MLS he'd be getting way more attention. I actually think he's right up there with Hamid when considering the full package (not saying his ceiling is as high, maybe) and he's only a year older than Hamid as well.

best thing about bingham, theres been a continued upward trajectory in his development. He started out his career so rough there were early calls for benching, but hes proven to be the most exciting thing in San Jose lately ever since. hes gotten better and better. If he continues that upward trajectory this year, he will have Guzan looking over his shoulder.

from a quakes perspective I don't want him going anywhere, but a USMNT perspective if he gets a starting overseas gig, its his spot to lose. Hes a smart guy im sure he gets that.

he's at least warming the bench in the PL rather then in the Championship for AV

he'll have a shot sooner or later. maybe around the holidays

initially as a great shot stopper, but his real improvement has been command of his box. when he first came into the league Bernardez and Goodson were always having to worry about him clattering into the back of them, now defenders know what to do and where to be. Also when he makes a decision to charge out of the box, he times it extremely well, he can defuse 1 v 1s occasionally from happening because hes quick off the line to clear it out. He's Hamid without the brain farts.

for me, hes a safer version of Guzan. It wouldn't surprise me if he won out in this thing because of all the current guys, hes the "safe bet" to me. He's the class of MLS currently, and he is "safe" at pretty much everything.

If there were something I was forced to nitpick him on, I suppose its a weakness of all guys not named Howard in the pool: Punching the ball out to safety. There was one instance this year where I remember him flailing pretty hard on a corner kick that lead to a goal, and maybe two or three other situations that were scary moments that lead to near goals, but that is being super picky and its not something that isn't par for the course for what we currently have.

Anxious to see him get a shot in January, especially since in theory everyone is gonna be starting at square one with no favoritism

I'm assuming that Guzan is the frontrunner for March but I hope Arena calls Hamid, Bingham and Horvath in for the January Camp to get a long look at how they each compare to the modern versions of Howard and Guzan.

It really is still startling that Howard is still in contention even despite his age, move back to MLS and recent injury,

This is all on Guzan though. Not sure what happened. He was flying high until 2015 (just as he was no1 for the NT) and had been Villa's number 1 for a few years and like 18 months later he's a no2 for both NT and club and seemingly folks gloss over him

I mean Guzan is okay, hes not gonna make me feel like we have the security blanket that we had for generations between the posts, but at the same time hes no Robert Green or David James. He isn't a disaster waiting to happen. We could do worse than Guzan, but I hope Bingham, Horvath, or Hamid can make the case tough for Bruce to name him starter.

I'm not so sure. He is in contention but I think the camp cupcake guys will make a play as well.

Now reports out of Boro that Guzan is looking for a move back to MLS, that would leave an incredible dearth of US goalkeepers abroad. As previously stated, Hamid or Bingham just latching onto a Championship or BL2 side would be huge for their USMNT prospects at this point (I guess would have to be the later given WP stuff).

As long as he's no longer anticipating a similar contract to Howard's.

I don't get why now. He just moved there 4 months ago. Should stick it out. He def won't be getting close to what Howard makes.

Keller was making 300-400 K back in 09. Howard's on 2.2-2.5 million and a ton of that was due to the PR over the Belgium match. Guzan would be lucky if he got 1 million a year.

He is extremely consistent. You always can expect tim to have a good game, no technical or mental gaps. Has some athletic limitations.

Not much left this year, but you still can see Jozy, Morris, Bradley, Roldan and the whole Toronto back line.

Based on the last game, Jozy alone is worth the price of admission. Should be fun to watch.
