Gone are Bluejay stalwarts Eric DeJulio, Timo Pitter, Mike Paye, Nando Castellanos, Connor Sparrow, captain Vincent Keller and legend Fabian Herbers. Despite losses Jays return some key attackers in Ricky Lopez-Espin, Myles Englis and Noah Franke who came on late in the season to become a integral part of the Jays system. Jays will rely heavily on midfield duo Ricardo Perez and Joel Rydstand, with possible attacking midfield duties going to US U20 Evan Waldrep who can also slot deep. In defense Jays will count on Lucas Stauffer, who is team's most technical and gifted player. Stauffer slotted in at LB last year and could play there again, but also could move into an attacking mid or wide role. Center of defense will be anchored by Portland Timbers youth product Peter Prescott who played meaningful minutes last season. He will be joined by Mitch LaGro who is coming off a red-shirt, and Felix Kollmanther. Long time back-up goalkeeper Michael Kluver has excellent athleticism and should be in pole position in the spring. Do not discount Jacob Rooth from net-minder duties. Rumors of multiple additions in the spring will likely be confirmed soon. Jays lots of scholarship pieces with the senior class and will add many new players including Shattuck-St. Mary's midfield boss Luke Haakenson.
Akeem Ward - fullback from Hastings College and Shattuck, as well as Trent Williams (M) and Jake Demerath (F) both freshman graduated early. Watch out for red shirt freshman Bryce Gibson and Connor Ramlo, both sat out last year, but could find minutes in the spring and then Fall.
Thanks for this thread. I am in Omaha, but have never followed soccer much. The sport is growing and nice to have a hometown team to follow.
Morrison Stadium is a great venue to watch a college soccer game. Creighton play nice, attractive soccer and usually draw a nice crowd.
Any word on signings for the fall? Hearing that new players look good and team will be better than anticipated, Losing Fabian, Timo,Vince and Connor wont be easy though

Tough way to end the season, 2-1 to Providence. A really big miss by the officials not to give a penalty just before half in my opinion. It would've changed the game if CU could have went into halftime up 2-1.
Was at the game on Saturday also. Thought ref easily could have called pk and definitely would have changed the game. But this was Creighton's game to win and didn't in second half so credit Providence for the result. Want to give a big shout out to captains Ricardo Perez and Alex Kapp. Both had great seasons and without them this would have been a rebuilding year. Looking forward to next year, pieces are in place for a great one.
Wondering why? Maybe not enough playing time this year, but thought Joel did a good job in the holding mid position and held his own. Could use him next year, but maybe Elmar will look to get Lucas into that position.
Was Waldrep the player who was wiped out at Kentucky (which brought the first red card)? Looked like it could have been a serious injury. Since he did not play last weekend v. Providence, I had assumed he was injured, but perhaps he was ready and just not included. Not saying that is the reason for the transfer.
Congrats to GK Alex Kapp for his All American selection. Fully deserved after the year you had. # 10 Ricardo Perez also deserved it . Looking forward to what next year has in store for my Bluejays! http://www.gocreighton.com/news/2016/12/8/-m-soccer-alex-kapp-named-nscaa-all-american.aspx Go Stanford today
Ricardo Perez Creighton midfielder signed a Homegrown contract with Colorado Rapids. We will miss you next year but good luck this season
