Threw the game on in the second half just to see if he might get in, and I'm sure glad I did. Really excited for the kid. Was watching on an English stream, and the commentators mentioned a few times how thrilling it must be for an 18 year old to make his debut in a game like this one. He did pretty well too with limited touches.
Nephew of former USMNT'er Hugo Perez. Product of Chivas Academy and Fiorentina Primavera. Plays primarily RW and likes to cut in and let loose with a cannon of a left foot. Good at dribbling in and out of traffic. Still needs refinement on awareness and decision-making. This is a good highlight vid ( Pulisic is playing the 10).
Brief article on his debut...Fiorentina lost, but sounds like he held his own out there http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/20...debut-serie-a-fiorentina-inter-milan-american
That was the first Serie A game I've actually sat down and watched, and thought it was tremendous. Have to agree about the ref, though. Especially when it came to cards, was certainly a little more "benevolent" towards Inter.
Congrats to josh good start now the hard work starts good debut too bad team lost but I admire Sousa for taking a risk with a youngster— Hugo Perez (@HugoPerezDT) November 28, 2016
Not the 1st American to play for Fiorentina, but the first American youth/international: Perez is the first player with American nationality to ever play for Fiorentina.— Viola Nation (@Viola_Nation) November 28, 2016 .@Viola_Nation @NatsAbroad Perez is actually the third. Alfonso Negro and Armando Frigo both played for the Viola in the 30s and 40s.— Phil Schoen (@PhilSchoen) November 28, 2016 Both born in the US, but both took Italian citizenship. Perez is the first US-born and US-eligible player.— Viola Nation (@Viola_Nation) November 28, 2016 Both are interesting stories. Negro won gold for Italy at the 1936 Olympics. Frigo died in WW2 fighting for the partizans.
Chiesa has, for the most part, stayed with the first team since his debut while Hagi goes back and forth between 1st team and Primavera. I wonder what Josh's immediate fate will be? Looking forward to the Italian press articles.
No personal attacks in YA there, dude. If you continue to be unable to get along with yourself I'm going to have to insist that you put yourself on ignore.
Post game comments by Sousa: Chiesa and Perez? I think about the game and their future, they are players who can change the pace and to jump the man, we put them in because we believe."
There is a lot of talk that Sousa is on a very short leash. Hope Fiore can turn it around, another coach may not be so keen on giving time to youngsters.
