Wow, this came quickly.....Bahrain to host the 2016 edition.

Bahrain will also host the 4th WAFF Futsal Championship for Men and the 5th WAFF Women Championship in 201, whereas the 3rd WAFF Futsal Championship for Women will be hosted by Kuwait in 2014 as well.

Bahrain... the worst country in terms of sportsmanship and hospitality. I will never forget how they misbehaved against Iraq in Gulf Cup 21

If Iraq and Iran was smart they would pull out and make a Cup of there own and invite 8-10 nations. Bahrain are KSA little ****** if you know what I mean.

WAFF is the lowest of the cup competitions in football anyways. Countries participating are minnows especially this year.

WAFF really dropping the ball here. Regardless of your opinion of the tournament all other sub federations (the recently created CAFA excepted) hold their tournaments regularly with full participation of all the members.

The 2016 Championship is most likely not going to happen and there has been ZERO communication over it.

The countries who aren't in the final round of WCQ could really use this semi-competitive environment to further prepare their teams for Asian Cup Qualifiers (Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, Yemen, Kuwait), Syria could use any game it can get, Qatar and Iraq really have to focus on the future because 2018 is a lost cause, the rest (UAE, Saudi Arabia) could try out fringe players so I don't understand why there's zero impetus to get this off the ground.

I believe every tournament, whether it is a friendly or competitive, can be useful for a team. In Iraq's case it's much needed at this point. We need to work on the team chemistry, trying out new players, boost morale.

Hopefully we'll hear about it soon.

It appeared like WAFF died with the creation of CAFA and UAFA pushing their competitions again.

It appears though that in September they should have had a General Assembly on the sidelines of the recent FIFA Womens competition in Jordan. This however was postponed. Why? Maybe members just aren't interested. But i'm hopefully with Prince Ali having such a meeting does show that WAFF is still alive.

If anything a senior WAFF Championship might have well and truly gone, but I hope that at least a U23 competition can continue in preparation for AFC competitions at the least.
