Talking about terrible possible members of the Trump Administration (has there been any other kind mentioned so far?), step up Jeff Sessions: 1. He was not only for "the Wall" before Trump thought it was cool, he's against legal immigration, too. More than a decade ago, Sessions was pushing for a fortified barrier on our Southern border, and has never let go of the dream. He has also opposed every congressional attempt at immigration reform since then, of which Reason's Shikha Dalmia wrote, "Sessions has done more than any human alive to torpedo every sensible immigration reform effort and makes no bones about his wish to basically stop all immigration. He moves the goalposts on reform constantly, recently even calling for the elimination of the H-1B visa program for foreign techies, which sent chills down the IT sector's spine." It's not just illegal immigration Sessions opposes, he's also fond of spreading the canard that all immigrants are a drain on the economy and take the jobs which are the birthright of all native-born Americas, when in fact, the opposite is much closer to the truth. As Nick Gillespie noted, Sessions' hostility to the free movement of people also makes him no friend of free trade. On that topic, Daniel Griswold wrote at Cato at Liberty that "Sen. Sessions supports our freedom to trade only as long as it does not affect any noisy special interests in his own state." There's four more. It doesn't get better. So yet another instance of hoping media speculation is wrong. Yay.
He's hated by his fellow Senators ... who would probably be pleased to help him leave their august body.
There's a long tradition of that on the state level here-- somebody makes himself obnoxious enough around town, a job opens for him in Santa Fe somehow, anyhow...

Yeah. That doesn't even fall into the category of "Trump wants to reward loyalty". Haley endorsed Rubio and condemned Trump pretty harshly on multiple occasions. I guess we can make it official that Trump's hiring strategy is literally "throw darts against the wall blindfolded".
I think this is probably more along the lines of what they are thinking, with respect to corruption, lobbying, etc. Trump PIO Spicer says anyone joining Trump adm will have to sign agreement not to lobby fed gov for 5 years. She came around by the time of the conventions. This is also right out of Putin's playbook. Putin emphasized that his foreign minister should be someone from outside his inner circle. You'd expect the Russian foreign minister to be someone from Putin's party or someone with military experience. But Lavrov is a mild mannered intellectual career diplomat. The idea is probably to smooth out the rough edges of Putin's foreign policy as much as possible.
JUST IN; Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn to be national security advisor, reports @kwelkernbc on @MSNBC just now. @GenFlynn— Kevin Baron (@DefenseBaron) November 17, 2016

On the nuclear deal with Iran, various voices who opposed the deal seem to be suggesting it shouldn't be ripped apart after all. http://edition.cnn.com/2016/11/16/politics/bob-corker-donald-trump-iran-deal/ Corker says Trump won't tear up Iran nuclear deal http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/donald-trump-iran-nuclear-deal-231419 Iran deal critics to Trump: Please don't rip it up They hated the nuclear agreement. But now they're urging Trump not to kill it.
Since I find the kind of agenda Hillary had in mind, which what Trump is now being counseled to follow, to be more likely to damage and hurt Iran's interests, part of me kind of wishes that Trump chooses Bolton (who I would put in prison if I could) as his next SoS! I really don't have the patience for several years of more outlandish lies, propaganda, and other attempts to undermine Iran as the US tries to build its coalition of the willing to isolate and again find partners to join sanctions against Iran. With someone like Bolton the US would likely find itself isolated instead of being able to successfully isolate Iran.
So let me get this straight... Trump ran on: Building the Wall Repealing and replacing ACA Tearing up the BAD Iran deal because it's a BAD deal and we don't win anymore Deporting 11 million illegal immigrants Developing a database for immigrating Muslims. Brining MAnufacturing jobs back to the US' Renegotiating our trade deals nation by nation instead of regional pact Supreme court and federal court nominations and appointments So far we know: There will be no Wall He can't tear up ACA He won't tear up the Iran deal He only wants to deport about the same as Obama did The database will be found unconstitutional Due to automation, it will make zero sense for companies to bring manufacturing back from a financial standpoint TTAP and TTP aren't going to happen anyway and Trump had nothing to do with that. Jury is still out on SCOTUS and lower court noms. So why did people vote for him again? The threat of him doing crazy shit will always loom with guys like Giuliani and Bannon in his cabinet but he sounds like he is endorsing Obama's domestic agenda if not in word then at least in deed.
That's how you hire the best ppl instead of a bunch of losers, which is why America never wins anymore. At least we'll have our economy renewed with all these manufacturing jobs. And I can't wait for my head to spin when he takes out ISIS so fast. He's meeting with Teh Generals this week and next to teach them about ISIS. It's amazing.
MSNBC and CNN offer good insight into the behaviors of the courtiers in St. Petersburg. Circa 1914 or so i'd say.
