This is the last klinsmann managed us match I watch. I stopped caring long ago as his management sucked my passion for this team dry. Now I'm simply over it. Done. Cannot watch this even one more time
Nothing says "we may not qualify" like announcers repeating "we're gonna qualify, folks. don't worry. nothing to see here." as we're getting battered 4-0.
I guess the players didn't have enough belief. Next time: more phone books. In the meantime, these players better get accosted in restaurants and told "hey, you gotta do better!"
Costa Rica absolutely gave us a kicking. Our federation is absolutely a joke if we still have the same coach in March.
Yeah you can't really expect him to make those 1 on 1 stops. He has played good lately, all things considered.
Some people say it's the players, or at least partially blame the players (MB, etc.). But look at it this way: The coach makes a huuuuuuuuuge difference. Case in point: Brazil suffered in the hands of Scolari and lost the WC in humiliating fashion. Then Dunga took over and did an even worse job - unimaginative, not a tactician, they crashed out of both Copa Americas and fell to 6th place in the South American qualifiers and out of the qualification zone for the WC 2018. Sure, the Brazilian press blamed the coach but people were also blaming the players, saying that this generation was shot, etc. Then they finally, finally hired a really good coach, Tite, a true tactician who truly knows what he is doing; the best coach Brazil has had in decades. Result: the next 6 official WC qualifiers games, six victories, including humiliating a complete Argentina with Messi, Di Maria, Mascherano and all, 3-0 (it should have been 5-0), and they are now first place in their qualifiers. From player selection to player position to formation to tactics, he made some smart tweaks and suddenly the team is powerful and dominates the competition. He accomplished all that in a matter of two months. Meanwhile we have a con artist for the last five years.
So guys this isn't really an outlier for a result in Costa Rica. We have lost 3-1, 3-1, and 3-0 the last three times we'd been down there before tonight. I know this result is compounded by the way we've been playing, but it isn't exactly out of the ordinary for away at Costa Rica.
I think most of were 50-75% checked out after Gold Cup. There have been some blips here and there, but I've almost come to expect the heartless displays.
