I get what you're saying but the days where Mexico was the concacaf supergiant are long gone. Saying that we should be above this win is also forgetting the shit show that was the 2009 and 2013 Hex qualifiers. Yes it's sad that we have to celebrate a historic win in Columbus, but at the same time the team is not at the high level it should be at the moment.
You need to watch more futbol and play less "amazing skillz" vids. While I don't condone his challenging and complaining antics, Herrera had a good game, peppered with a few mistakes, the worst, the ones that come from exceso de confianza. But he got so many aerial disputed balls, he recovered so many balls, and it was not until he was paired with Rafa that he started to fall short. /p
That's sort of what I'm getting at. No need to go to far on either direction. I'm sure though the spazzo's are going to go ape if today's game ends up in a tie or loss.
I think chiquis would like to measure how heavy a pat on the back each player gets just to make sure no one spazzes.
This idea that playing in Azteca is "hurting" the players is silly. These are professional athletes and it's not like this is their first rodeo at Azteca. The Euro based players know how to physically prepare themselves to play their, they practice in DF and then play in DF...and they've been doing this for years. It's not like the local league players aren't used to it either....they have to play Toluca, Pumas, Cruz Azul and America at a high altitude on a regular basis. Now, I'm ALL for the NT going to different venues. I think it's only fair that fans from all parts of Mexico get to watch the NT in games that count.
HH was decent, his issue are those give aways he's having by trying to pass too clean at times rather than blasting it away. He hustled like crazy to make up for Rafa's slowness. We suffered unnecessarily in this game. Osorio should have brought Jonathan for Guardado and Salcedo for Reyes. That's the only gripe I had with Osorio's game management.
ent He could have bring Jona in instead of moving Rafa to the midfield. That's when everything went to shit.
Okay but the US isn't some minnow like a lot of you guys think They are a worthy opponent who on their day can give anyone a tough game This win was important because of the mental aspect of it, simple is that. Now that Mexico have that off their shoulders they can go back there and feel more comfortable without that mental barrier holding them back Also if Howard didn't make that Corona save and Vela scored early too, this game would have been a thrashing But it is what it is Marquez, their arch nemesis put their cherished dosacero to bed in Columbus with their favorite weapon, a set piece header Couldn't write a better ending
Maybe I'm wrong but it seems that since the team has been mostly made up of euro based players the performances at azteca have been shit for the most part.
It never ceases to amaze the childish responses that people come up with. That fake quote "amazing skillz vids" is just pitiful. Herrera was absolute trash from the majority of this game and its not a new phenomenon. He's had the same idiotic decision making and flat out refusal to defend in previous games. He's constantly bombing forward and his stupid giveaways are not an isolated incident. Herrera lacks positional discipline and isn't offering much offensively. Guardado's injury really exposed him as the weak link because even when we lost control of the midfield Herrera continued with his idiotic and rash passing and lackadaisical play. Its shocking how nutridders can't take any valid criticism about their favorites.
All very perfectly put.. symbolic victory as well as, practically, a great road performance. Was very statement.. And very true- the US do not suck.. especially not there. The numbers do the talking. It's a huge scalp that nobody had taken, on that field.. Sent from my VS870 4G using Tapatalk
He did have some of the worst passes of any of our players. One that comes to mind is a brain dead back flick in his own side of the field that lead to a dangerous play where Salcedo took out Nat messi. Absolutely horrendous lack of awareness that lead to 3 dangerous scoring opportunities.
Suprised with the amount of work Vela was putting in during this game, maybe having a kid really started to motivate him, hopefully he is a regular for the NT until he retires from it
Also if you don't have iTunes, podcast Republic does have it on there. Some of the callers are ratings grabbers.
