OK is it me or should Low stop picking Volland to the NT and start picking Werner. he currently has 10 games played -5 goals -3 assists
I can agree with this. Werner has made huge strides this season and is an important reason why Leipzig are currently in their position in the league table.
his 2nd goal also puts him as the joint German top scorer this season. Even better both players are youth ones too 5 goals -Timo Werner Age 20 -Max Philipp Age 22
It might not be a bad idea to give him a German passport and cap tie him. Obviously he has a lot to learn but the potential is there. Still only 19.
Gnabry is playing as a false 9 today. Good decision by Nouri to play with a back 3. Werder look defensively very solid so far(which is not something you usually associate with Werder). Meyer and Goretzka are struggling to create any chances.
Damn, Werdernaccio was actually effective up until that moment. Meyer smashes one off the crossbar from distance. Should have closed off Schöpf from the unmarked tap in off the rebound.
Gnabry scores his 4th goal, so now 4 out of the 5 German top scorers are all youth players!!! Good time for German football!!!!
No worries. Regretable goals to be giving up that could have been prevented. Although still possible to make it a come back but difficult. A 2-1 scoreline is kind of a fair reflection on the course of play though. Schalke have been gaining form for couple weeks leading up to now and they're playing at home as well.
Need @Epitome990 to elaborate a bit more on this I don't even know if he has the refugee status or not
He's not eligible to be representing Germany right now. And tbh this hasn't really been a topic that I've been interested in reading too much into.
5 Goals -Timo Werner Age 20 -Max Philipp Age 22 4 Goals -Serge Gnabry Age 21 -Joshua Kimmich Age 21 -Sandro Wagner Age 28
Looks like Weinzierl has this Schalke team clicking again. Overall, the inclusion of the Goretzka, Geis and Meyer together have been an important reason for their recent improvements. This trio has been functioning well alongside Bentaleb, Kolasinac, and Schöpf, etc who have all stepped it up lately. After his early season absence, Thilo Kehrer has also been on the bench for Schalke's last 2 league and 2 Europa matches. Not too much game time yet but he made a very brief cameo during their win vs Krasnodar back on Oct 20. They might be gradually easing him into the rotation.
For most of the season while Schalke have been performing badly. Meyer kept being on the bench, he's played 10 games, 5 in starting 11 and 5 on the bench. They lost the first 5 matches and most of those had either Meyer or Goretzka (or neither) not both in the 11. In the last 5 games, 4 out 5 had Meyer and Goretzka together in the 11 and they got 3 wins and 2 draws. Seems like Meyer and Goretzka play better together which benefits the entire team.
I guess it's kind of similar (but to a lesser degree) to the dynamic Reus and Götze had when they were younger. The presence of both players on the pitch together contributes to the chemistry of both the players and team as a whole.
Niklas Süle will have to sit out the upcoming U21 NT games due to knee problems. Don't think it's too serious though. No news on a replacement yet, but I'd go with Timo Baumgartl if required for an additional defender. http://www.ligainsider.de/niklas-suele_2584/verzichtet-auf-die-laenderspiele-163145/
