My order of importance is: 1. Goals scored 2. Goals conceded These are the 2 most important statistics because they are the only stats that determine the end result. I listed goals scored as number 1 because you can still win if you conceded goals but you can't win if you haven't scored any goals. The rest of the stats are more measures of how good a team is fundamentally. 3. Shots on goal 4. Posession 5. Shots I listed posession over shots because a piss poor team can play long balls and boot it over the goal forcing shots. A team who maintains posession is likely controlling the game. A team that relies on counter attack and gives up possession against every team they play has a weak midfield.
You're sounding like CDLC now. Remember when he said playing pretty soccer was more important than even winning?
Would you accept winning MLS Cup by paying off the officials? I wouldn't. Winning isn't the epitome of the game.
I would argue that paying off the officials would not be winning. Winning is the epitome of the game, and the ultimate aim of sport , but it is NOT the only thing. One of the many things about which Vince Lombardi was wrong.
Yes, I definitely would. Not only would I "accept" it, I would revel in it. I would have a ********ing banner flying at kickoff and make the center ref wear a "WE PAID FOR THIS AND YOU DIDN'T SO GO ******** YOURSELF" headband. I would make my employee Don Garber come on at halftime and tell everybody the final score and exhale a big puff of Cubano smoke into the camera and say, "There's your halftime, bitches!" Red Cards would have the Fire badge on them...sponsored by The Chicago Fire. Would I pay for it? ******** yeah. That's what salaries and shit are anyway. I'm not Andrew Hauptman after all.
Sean Johnson deserves to go somewhere else where he won't lose his job for going to national team camp. It's not that Lampson's bad, Johnson is better. Johnson deserves better than what he dealt with this year.
I got into a SJ discussion on twitter last night. The Pauno / Lampson defenders came out of the woodwork. Can't believe people don't appreciate SJ.
Lampson may not be bad, but he's not that good either and isn't better than Sean John, the #1 for next year's Atlanta United.
I honestly almost posted the same response. So no bunge that wouldn't be more important but that isn't winning to me either.
I still think you're kinda conflating the two things. "winning" is defeating your opponents. What you want is to be able to codentify with a team that is doing that. I wouldn't mind just paying really good players that I like a lot of money to play for us. That's still buying a title, I suppose...neh? Paying off the refs? I really would do that, but I would make sure everyone knew it. I like a good cackle...
My requirements: - all bribe money for referees must be delivered to the PRO employee on the field, inside a comically large money bag with a dollar sign imprinted on the exterior, 5-10 minutes prior to kickoff. - all bribe money for referees must be delivered by one of the following: 1) a fat, comically disheveled man wearing a flat cap while mumbling about Arnold Rothstein; 2) a mustache twirling Snidely Whiplash impersonator; 3) Pascal Bedrossian in a tracksuit.
I didn't think so. You are talking about integrity. That is not the same as winning. Your argument is that integrity is more important than winning. Perhaps, you are correct. Perhaps not. Regardless, it is an interesting concept.
I accept payments to referees as long as they come in the form of worn Blanco jerseys. But only payable after good referee performance.
