We aren't selling James or Isco. They're just trying to sell papers.

Remoniscent of the "Madrid closing on Sissoko!" nonsense.

It is way too late for us to sell especially considering their are no vaible transfer targets left.

Isco is staying for sure. Him, his agent and ZZ have made it clear many times. He was ahead of James last year so James staying or leaving won't change anything for him.

I think Zidane is indifferent on the James front. I think he likes having someone of James' quality and skillset on the team, but resents the obligation to throw him in as a sub every game, just to justify his price tag and sell jerseys. I think he could stay or go and it wouldn't affect Zidane's plans one bit.

If he does go, I think letting Llorente leave was a mistake. Now, our midfield is thin with 2 backups, and signing a backup DM is hard because then it leaves Llorente's future in limbo. This is why some of us were complaining about poor planning months ago. We had all this time to sell James and properly reinforce the midfield. But instead, we're doing it with 5 days left in the window (reportedly), making a CM/DM signing difficult.

Really wanted Weigl tbh. Oh well, we have the most stacked squad on the planet!

Maybe the plan is to see how Llorente does on loan until winter i.e. before the 2nd half of CL, and if he's doing well, recall him, if not, sign someone in the winter.

Come winter, we'll most likely be transfer banned and out of appeals. No signings

Agreed, besides we're not very active in winter window.

    Eh, that's a good point.

A single signing is not (otherwise) far-fetched -- we signed Lass and Huntelaar in the same winter window.

So the transfer window is up and still no word on the transfer bans. I don't know if that's good or bad news.

I'm guessing the plan is to recall Llorente sometime in the future. The more I think about it, the more worried I get that Casemiro is our ONLY defensive midfielder in the squad. The idea to have Kroos play there is rubbish imo unless the other midfielders and attackers put in maximum effort as well in defending but I don't see that happening on a consistent basis if, God forbid, something happens to Casemiro.

Btw, I still can't believe this is the same lazy Casemiro from SPFC who is now 1st name on the teamsheet and one of the most important players at Real. I'm so proud of this guy.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, Llorente is not a backup for Casemiro. Llorente is much more of a typical MC than DMC or deep-lying playmaker.

Yes, from putting a name into a box perspective, not from a footballing or attributes perspective.
Zidane has said that there are many alternatives to Casemiro, some of them typify the "square peg into a round hole" analogy...

D.Llorente scored today, Borja didn't make the bench for Wolfsburg, Vallejo came off the bench on the 80th minute for Frankfurt while Omar started and was subbed off at minute 88.

Really hope Borja was injured. We didn't loan him out only to get dropped by Wolfsburg. He could have done that here.

Hopefully we got some contractual assurances of game time. If not, we are stupid to think a 19 year old loanee will be prioritized at a club like Wolfsburg.

This. Is not like he was Renato Sanchez or Coman. Maybe Mariano could be pushing those guys for a starting spot.. he is better.

Better? I'd hope so, he's a solid 4 years older. Mayoral has far more potential.

Could be but I meant if Mariano was playing there now instead of Mayoral he would have a better chance.

Usually Real include 50% playing time for all loaned out players so I am hoping that's the case with Borja as well. Otherwise he could've warmed the bench here instead of doing it at Wolfsburg.

Honestly Isco seems like the odd man out. Everyone is impressing but him. I'd honestly sell him and get Weigl to take his spot.
I think Kovacic is the better player for us. Better attitude, offers more and younger.
Plenty of players were sold and Isco had his shot. shots. Plenty of SHOTS.
Weigl could help at both CM and CDM.
