Was wondering that too. Also allows them to build trade value for Tribbett if they decide to move him in the offseason.
there's no way Yaro would graduate from GA status that quickly for it to be a concern... maybe I'm crazy, but I think Tribbett gives Yaro legit competition at this point in their careers.
Not saying you're wrong about Tribbett (or this is why Yaro has been playing limited minutes), but Zarek Valentin played 25 games for Chivas USA in 2011, and lost his GA status and was then lost in the Expansion Draft.
didn't realize Valentin graduated that fast.... could of sworn our past GA guys were GA for what seemed like a long time.... looked it up: 2010: Mwanga - Graduated 2011 Jack Mac - 2012 Okugo - 2012 2011: MacMath - 2013 2012: Hoffman - didn't graduated 2014: Blake - hasn't graduated 2016: Herbers Yaro
There must be different criteria for Keepers. MacMath was the starter in 2012. Jack Mac and Okugo not graduating for a few years was not surprising as they barely played in 2010 and 2011. I have to imagine that Blake will graduate this season. Herbers might too.
I forgot that herbers was ga. He prob should start producing if he wants to hang around at a bigger salary
Yeah I had to go back and check as I wasn't sure if he was GA or not. Let's hope the rumor that the league is going to do away with the expansion draft is true. Though with Earnie in charge, and helping to guide Curtin and Albright, I have a feeling the Union will be fine if there is an expansion draft. It's not like they lost anything in the last draft. Ribiero has been injury prone with Orlando, and Fabinho has turned into one of the better LB's in MLS.
Don't think Herbers will. Roldan is still a GA in Seattle and he had 1100+ minutes last year and Hairston in Colorado got almost 1000 minutes in 2014. Eric Miller played 1600 minutes in 2014 and he is still a GA player. Hell, Larin is still a GA this year on MLS' site and he played almost 2k minutes last year.
Yeah, there is no way Herbers graduates from his GA after this season, Yaro as well. Blake is more of an issue considering that generally GKs take longer to graduate from their GA status. But, since I enjoy doing this kind of crap, here is my protected 11 for the expansion draft along with various situations. Protected 11 (Blake, Yaro, and Herbers are all GA) and if Barnetta re-signs with the team (pretty sure his contract is up after this season). Auto protected - Yaro, Herbers, Blake, Trusty, Jones Fabinho, Tribbett, Marquez, Rosenberry, Pontius, Bedoya, Sapong, Ilsinho, Barnetta, Davies, Alberg Protected 11 (Yaro and Herbers are GA) Barnetta re-signs Auto protected - Yaro, Herbers, Trusty, Jones Blake, Fabinho, Marquez, Rosenberry, Pontius, Bedoya, Sapong, Ilsinho, Barnetta, Davies, Alberg Protected 11 (Yaro, Herbers and Blake are GA) Barnetta leaves Auto protected - Yaro, Herbers, Blake, Trusty, Jones Tribbett, Fabinho, Marquez, Rosenberry, Pontius, Bedoya, Sapong, Ilsinho, Davies, Alberg, Edu Protected 11 (Yaro and Herbers are GA) Barnetta leaves Auto protected - Yaro, Herbers, Trusty, Jones Blake, Fabinho, Marquez, Rosenberry, Pontius, Bedoya, Sapong, Ilsinho, Davies, Alberg, Edu If I'm Earnie, if I can convince Barnetta to give another year or two to the team, Edu is the biggest name I'm dangling out there in the expansion draft. Let's be real here, Edu doesn't move the needle in terms of name recognition since he hasn't played for the USMNT in how long now? He has been hurt for virtually the entire season and unless he absolutely KILLS it in the limited time he does get, teams may or may not want to take the gamble on him since there won't really be enough to judge him on. If Barnetta says see ya, then obviously Edu may get a pass simply by the fact that there isn't a ton of talent I would be that upset about losing behind him.
I'd probably protect Crevalle over Edu. Not because I think that he is the better player, but that he is fairly cheap (125k), isn't injury prone, and is versatile. He is the kind of back-up that you need that can spot fill multiple positions without costing a whole lot and that is valuable. He is also from Georgia so he may have some trade value if Atlanta wants him. Plus there are a number of players with contracts expiring in 2017 that could fill that d-mid slot (including at least 3 Americans).
Well now - looks like we'll be seeing the 'Revenge of Danny' next season! http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/08/19/minnesota-united-fc-join-mls-2017-debuting-tcf-bank-stadium
I was wondering where Minnesota would play until the stadium is built. I've yet to motivate to go to their current digs. But biking or catching the light rail over to the U seems doable.
Two questions: Did Edu travel with BSFC to Montreal for tomorrow's game? JC has been clear that his first mins will come there. Is there any MLS roster rules or advantages to never playing an injured player all season? Is there a point where even if Edu is physically ready, we don't see him play for the Union at all this year?
2- Not that I have heard of in the sense for Edu. You only get cap relief for salaries below $200k, so he doesn't qualify. As for if he is ready, yeah, they'll play him. I get the sense he wants to play, if for no other reason than to show his next club/Chipotle sponsor he's still a soccer player. At worst, he's an upgrade over Creavalle. I think we'll end up missing Carroll more. Never thought I'd say that.
I looked for the appropriate place for this, couldn't find it. Question: With two matches this week who do you pair Rich(c)ie with? Ken Tribbett Joshua Yaro Maurice Edu Bedoya Box
I'd go 3-in-the-back. Siege - Chuck D Pontius Pilate - Barnie Miller - Ill Seen Yo Zevon - B-Box Fabulous - Rich(c)ie - The Rosenberries taste like Rosenberries Plastic Man
A for effort. Best they could Edu down the stretch: 4-2-3-1 : 'cause under this guy everything else is fantasy. GK- Bobsled RB-Rosenhosen RCB-Mozilla LCB-Ritchie Rich LB- Fab DM-BC DM-Bedrock LAM-Gaucho Man CAM-'Quillo (Would accept Tranqenstein) RAM(Ferby over the DisCo Duck) Striker- Sap * Goodtime Charlie can't handle excessive minutes.
sorry, let me clarify. I would still play Bedoya in the midfield. But i would line up a Bedoya box next to Rich(c)ie and it would play opposing strikers onside as often as Tribbett did.
We are back in a lawsuit. Bedoya's youth club is suing USSF, MLS, and us for a cut of the transfer fee we paid Nantes. http://www.espnfc.us/united-states/...oyas-youth-club-to-demand-cut-of-transfer-fee Can someone who speaks Legalese explain to me how the ******** the club can claim a portion of the transfer fee when Bedoya has played for four clubs before us? As well, why are we being targeted instead of Nantes?
I would love to get some comments from Bedoya on this because he's probably the greatest source for quotes we've had since Nowak .... get @Boyertown2003 on the case!
