I like the logo so much better without any text in it. I hope some merch will be made available with that variation. All the mls store has right now is the acronym logo (a long and clumsy one like NYCFC)
Which would be another good reason to argue for the three extra games being inter-conference rather than intra. The travel difference is very marginal, home fans get to see more different opponents, and visits of conference opponents are unique chances to take points off direct rivals at home. But don't worry, I know they won't do it.
The fact that they've already created and have used a logo sans-text (see Fiosfan's image on the previous page for another example) makes me believe that the textless logo will be what they primarily use at the start, with the "MNUFC" logo being a secondary logo, or they'll spend a couple of years with MNUFC as the primary and then switch to the textless secondary once their brand has been firmly established (as the Timbers did).
Maybe, if you're a Central or Mountain team. I'm thinking SJ would prefer trips to LA or the Pac NW over Chicago and the NY teams would prefer cross-town trips and visits to NE or DC over heading to Colorado.
Yeah, but we're talking about longer travel on literally one or two trips. It's very much at the margins.
From a $$$$ perspective, MLS is going to make more having Seattle playing a third game against Portland, Vancouver, and LA than they are a second vs random Eastern Conference team. Or having NYRB play a third against NYCFC, Philly/NER, or DCU vs a second against random Western Conference club.
How can MLS have three teams in one division all with "New" in their name?!?!? They can't all be new.
Are extra intraconference games currently rotating, or are they fixed? I expect the current pattern to continue, whatever it is.
The current pattern is expansion and things changing. So yes, that pattern will likely continue for MLS.
You're probably right, particularly for the clubs normally below max capacity in their venue. It just totally doesn't align with my preferences, either competitively or as a consumer.
They've been using the current logo for quite a while. Not a big change. http://andymead.photoshelter.com/ga...BkaaPC7qAls/I0000sjPw32aVtpw/C0000wjt2GlbmyJQ
Ahhh, OK. Went to Bloomington earlier in the year. First brush with Minnesota. Watched the team several times online. Not too familiar with their support.
Do you work in customer support? Because your lack of an actual answer to the question was particularly impressive in this post.
It turns out MLS uses a mix of the two scheduling philosophies. In the last four seasons, RSL has missed third games with a different set of Western Conference teams each year, but played Colorado 3x each time. This makes sense. If some teams are faced more often, primary rivals should be included. Based on that I expect SKC to face MNU three times, and the same to hold true for RSL and Colorado, the Texas and California pairs and the northwest trio, with the other third games assigned randomly (ish).
Apparently they made that intern work the entire weekend, because the logo is now there! http://www.mlssoccer.com/
Hey guys: https://www.minnpost.com/politics-p...r-s-newest-franchise-it-wasnt-playing-minneso I just saw this over at the MLS reddit. Here's the interesting section from this story, though: Isn't this pretty massive news? Can anyone in the Twin Cities area confirm this?
Im not an insider but live in the Twin Cities, follow the team, and work by the site. Yes the team will go a head with construction. The stadium is approved to begin via the St. Paul city council approving it last week. The property tax break is a financial risk to the owners but doesn't bar MNUFC from beginning work and digging the hole in the ground. The property tax exemption was non controversial in the first place, passed the legislature easily, has the support of the governor and will be passed sometime when the legislature starts back again in January or later next spring if the politicians are slow. Winter is Coming why wait till January when the legislature resume the regular session to rubber stamp the tax bill. I dont even want to know the cost of try to break frozen ground in Minnesota in January. BTW they cleared all the random stuff off the site about a month or two ago. They want to get going.
Very happy that MLS walked back their line on the team name. It simply was not fair that, knowing Minnesota would want to use a name that was already part and parcel with their fanbase, they allowed an expansion team in Atlanta with no history to use it and simultaneously tried to block Minnesota from using it. Someone in their marketing department fell asleep that week. Happy to see it's resolved. Don't create issues where none are warranted.
