Bild reports that Kruse will be out for 2 months http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/max-kruse/faellt-acht-wochen-aus-47443140.bild.html
Well, the DFB exit and Kruse news seems indicative of the season we are in for. We've been flirting with relegation for the past 2-3 seasons and unless things change dramatically, I don't see us escaping it this year. Has anyone been able to make sense of the Kleinheisler loan?
From what I've gathered, it just appears Skripnik doesn't rate Kleinheisler's abilities. Same situation as with Hajrovic still not getting any looks despite having some quality appearances in pre-season. Puzzling because for some reason, he prefers a CDM like Yatabare on the wing instead of someone who has the natural ability to play along the wing. It's times like these where you really have to question his coaching strategies. We have a lot of players in our roster but many are under-utilized. I also think Caldirola should be one of the first choice starters in CB after his strong campaign on loan with Darmstadt. He's also more familiar to defending against BL/German club opponents than newcomers who just joined. With Kruse out and Pizarro still not ready to return yet, it's going to be tough finding steady scoring production. Not sure if Thy is good enough to be a reliable source, while Johannsson is also not match fit yet. We'll need Eggestein to step up big time.
I have set up a fantasy Bundesliga league for Big Soccer at Bundesliga.com. Easy to use, looks like it will be fun. All are welcome. League name: Big Soccer Password: fantasy fantasy.bundesliga.com Different from the Kicker league in that you are allotted €150 to purchase your squad of whichever players you wish, at your leisure, and Bundesliga.com gives out weekly prizes to the best squads and at the end of the year the best fantasy manager wins tickets to any Bundesliga match of their choice for the next season.
Looks like Grillitsch will be ready in time for the opening match vs Bayern. Skrippo is also planning on returning to the 4-1-4-1 system, with Flo featuring as a six. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...grillitsch_kruse-ersatz-in-anderer-rolle.html
I watched a half today and this team looks like it will be a white knuckle ride in the relegation zone. From a neutral perspective this was not much to sell the Bundesliga on.
The situation of Skripnik at Werder is like an example of a business being run among friends. Even though Skripnik is clearly incompetent of the coaching job right now, management still want him to continue staying on board because of his continued affiliation of the club and connections with the board who favored him/Baumann over Eichin. Losing to Bayern isn't the issue, it's the way that the battle is lost. If we went down defiantly like last season's Pokal semi-finals match up against them then that is fine. But at this point, it appears Skripnik has completely lost control of the players and his tactics are non-existent. The start to this season doesn't get any easier; next 5 opponents are Gladbach, Mainz, Wolfsburg, Darmstadt, and Leverkusen.
14 Werder players receive nominations during international break. http://www.werder.de/en/news/news/werder-bremen-news/20162017/laenderspiel-roundup-27082016/
Just a friendly, but an encouraging sign from Johannsson as he scored 5 goals on Friday's match. Several youngsters like Zetterer, Fröde, Eggersglüss, Jacobsen, and Verlaat got called up from the reserves to play this one. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...ikel_skripniks-tankstopp-in-ostfriesland.html
The predicted key individual match ups against Augsburg. Gnabry is also expected to be in the starting XI. Going for ultra defensive lineup against Gladbach. I guess Skrippo-naccio has a good ring to it. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...ch_borussia-mgladbach-15_werder-bremen-4.html
One could see this coming when the decision pro Skripnik and contra Eichin was made. I don't get why Werder refuses to learn from the other clubs. With Bode, Baumann, Skripnik, Frings there are persons in the lead who have no clue of state of the art football, but are only there because they are part of the "Werder family". I wait for a decision to install Thomas Schaaf as the new/old coach.
Hey fwiw, a much better second half here. Uli Garcia and Johannsson with close chances. But we're denied by Sommer and frickin Vestergaard respectively. Gnabry just scored an absolute stunner right now. ^Totally agree with the above statement though, EE.
All consolation now, but maybe at least positive momentum building towards the next game. I don't get wtf was the reasoning for that Red card to AJ just now though. F*** this ref.
It's going to be a 2-match suspension plus fine for AJ. From what I've read he said something along the lines of "...it's a f***ing hand ball!" to the ref.
http://www.werder.de/en/news/news/werder-bremen-news/20162017/kurzpaesse/team-talk-26092016/ Schmidt’s instant impact On Saturday morning, Niklas Schmidt found out that he would be in Werder’s squad for their game against Wolfsburg, twelve hours later, he was an influential figure in the Green-White’s 2-1 victory – what a day! For the 18 year old, it was his most important moment at the club, since he moved to the Weser four years ago. “When my number has held up for me to be subbed on, it was indescribable,” said Schmidt after the final whistle. The 18 year old had only been on the pitch for 15 minutes when he whipped in the corner for Theodor Gebre Selassie to head home. “In the changing room, I got some time to myself and was able to think about it, but I still just can’t comprehend it all,” revealed Schmidt to WERDER.TV. First game, first assist and first win – he couldn’t have asked for more on his Green-White debut.
Kruse's recovery process is well on track, as he's able to walk again without crutches. Rejoining training is still weeks away though. http://m.bild.de/sport/fussball/max-kruse/ohne-kruecken-48008636.bildMobile.html
