Very true. This is only the beginning of the litigation--and it is more personal than business. Now that dirty laundry has been aired you have to ask "is that everything"? I think we have only seen a part of the dirty laundry, which means more litigation from others involved in this suit will likely follow. That, plus the debt, which was taken out by an enterprise which is now in turmoil, means the soccer part of this equation has just taken a back seat to all the drama at hand (you can bet the bank will be watching what happens and making sure payments are made). Hopefully someone will step up and purchase the clubs (though the sale might be tied up in litigation since the owners might not agree to sell them, the terms, etc). I hope this is cleared up soon but I think it will get messier before it is all finished.

I dont see the comets going anyplace. I am just going to assume that the money they borrowed of 3.1 Million was for the out door club and not the comets .

Well Josh schaub has stated that this is not a done deal , They need to get it figured out now. 8/31 is the deadline for fees to be paid to play this season. I dont think you have seen the last of the IPL .

I would think the bank or investor who lent them the money would call in the loan once a payment has been missed since they are going to appear in court. If they dont work it out the court could force them to sell off the company's assets.

So I guess the "proof" people wanted is starting to arrive:

In addition to the formation of a lower feeder division of the MASL expected in 2017-18, Schaub expects to have an announcement within a couple of weeks that will finalize the status of franchises in Baltimore, Harrisburg and St. Louis. All three had announced the intention of leaving the MASL to join the new Indoor Professional League, but a return may be imminent.

“Both the IPL and the MASL teams believe that having one league is really critical to the health of arena soccer,” Schaub said. “During this offseason we met, we talked about that and believe that is the greater good that’s going to push us on through with the IPL. It’s not a done deal yet, but we have worked together and found that the path is really one league.”

Scott, you are a good egg. Don't worry, you are fighting for standards. Remember that there are some, one in particular who I cant see posts from because he is an absolute failure at this, and I deleted him, who will tell you that everything regarding standards and the Blast and Hale are contrary to what should be happening. He got booted out of the MASL, and he couldn't stop himself but to post every 5 seconds on here and FB. I have it on the highest authority from several owners and league officials that they told him to quit...but he cant...he is a little...well I wont go there. Not Respected, and given the shoe. The crazy thing, he lives in Baltimore!!! And supports them!??
Standards, keep fighting for them. The reality is Ed Hale is crazy. His a wealthy crazy man. Soccer Sam is certifiable crazy, and Ed is even more crazy to try and put that man in a position to run the IPL. Ask Kenn, ask Alan, shoot....ask anyone.....this whole sport is crazy. Now that I think about it for a second, we are all crazy to think we can make some sort of difference here. This sport died in 1989. But you go man...I will keep reading messages that make sense young man.

    Cheers,

    TEE

It will all be worked out. I do believe we need standards in place to make indoor soccer somewhat successful. I would be more interested in hearing the changes that will be made this year. Not 2 Years from now . Start with some type of standard for the live feeds. Then advertise the league, A youtube video is not going to cut it. Since the MASL is on the I hate the Blast kick. They could be marketing that The Championship MVP Lucas Roque is competing for the USA footvolley team in the Rio Olympics.

All of those things Lewis take Money

Most owners don't have any that's why you don't see any of those things.
Most money that's there is borrowed.
The comets lawsuit is a pissing match by two groups who want to be in charge.
Both together have done a shitty job promoting the team, pre game show they have alienated the people that could have the most impact at team succeeding in the stands. They are not approachable.

I hope somebody steps up and buys both of these groups out.

For the fans sake the players sake and to save the Comets name.

And the reality of the deal is that corporations don't want to invest in a league where the richest man is bat shit crazy and throwing a fit every year threatening to leave and the poorest guy is shuffling between soccer domes and parking lots. The guys in the middle are cutting costs trying to figure which way to go or what to do to get bigger tax write off.
There is no stability to invest in.

You nailed that right on the head. I honestly cant see the comets surviving with the owners fighting like they are.
The MASL has their hands into many things , The MASL. PASL Premier, LMFR Pro and Whatever the women's league is called. Right now they only seem to be worried about the USA Mexico Games and creating teams in mexico. NOw they want to start and run the MASL 2. It just seems funny to me that everything Ed Hale bitched about the Masl is now taking the necessary steps to fix . I am sure they only did this becase more teams were planning on leaving. I would like to see what Josh Schaub can do to fix this mess , He is honestly going to need more than a year to do it. Maybe he is the only one who can talk some sense into the owners.

One or the other will buy each other out. That is what its about.

The emails are just dumb and no FCKC Players are in the pictures and one guy bragging about "riding" any of them just shows the immaturity of someone with money being a Douche Bag.
Hell one of the girls in the email is Amy Taylor she played for Australia and posed nude in their calendar with the rest of the Australian women's team.
She was a pretty good player and was marketed in Australia the same way Alex Morgan is here.
That was ten years ago and that image is the first to pop up on Google when you type in her name.
The fact those emails are even out there are just dumb and if it was Bud who released them makes him look like even a bigger Douche trying to devalue the team.
I am not so sure teams were lining up to leave or not. The only people I talk to are the few players I am friends with in other cities and the couple here locally that I work club ball for. I am not in the know or the inner circle.
Common sense would say the IPL offers more travel cost than most teams can cover and until things improve financially for the league it has to be the way it is.
You may not like it if you are the richest guy on the table but that's the state of the game today. I will say that you do not help the situation by calling out people on talk shows, public forums and just threaten to walk whenever it does not go your way. If I was a investor I would not even talk to the bat shit crazy guy because you never know what's next out of his mouth.
Like I said earlier during the MLS all star game the Commissioner stated that only eight MLS teams turned a profit I bet zero Indoor Soccer teams turned a profit. I know you say the blast did but I cant believe that and I don't care. I will always buy the tickets to support the guys and don't really care about the owners.
But that is the state of the indoor game enjoy it... it may be gone tomorrow

I hope that the predictions of 'improvements' by the MASL will actually happen. How about league-wide sponsorship of soccer balls & uniforms so teams don't have to shell out their own money for those items (MISL 3 had such sponsorships)? How about clarification of rules and improved officiating? Online broadcasting quality needs a major upgrade. Teams need to bring accountable to provide a good quality broadcast. Enforcement of the quality of soccer carpet/turf is badly needed (looking at you, Harrisburg & Detroit). The MASL has been nonexistent in marketing; one owner who excels at marketing repeatedly offered to help the league promote better but no one called him back (no, it wasn't Sam or Hale).

The MASL needs to move to a franchise model. The MASL has been operating without a coherent legal structure and still are (updates please if that changed). Until concrete actions match the promises, I won't believe anything the MASL says. Same for IPL which has apparently not delivered "8-10 teams". The sport is stuck in a ditch. The 2nd level of the MASL solves nothing unless all the recreational center teams are moved there permanently. I wish the MASL new commissioner good luck, he will need it.

This is very troubling. I saw the exact same thing, word-for-word with an IHL team in the 90s. It was one guy who had a team that was struggling at the gate. The players, the league, the other owners....all offered to help. He just ignored them. Wouldn't return a call.

I'm really saddened MASL has done the same thing

The Blast turn a profit every year because of all of the camps they do , I think that is where the money can be made in soccer.

That was Andrew Haines and he was shot down several times by the league

The MASL are/were idiots for not taking him up on the offer to help. What other offers of assistance did they turn down? Haines knows how to market and build a team. I don't think he was trying to toss anyone under the bus, or replace any of the stuffed shirts at the MASL office; he was sincerely trying to keep the league from failing. The state of the sport is pretty sad if the MASL is the 'top' league.

So eight MLS teams turn a profit and one MASL/IPL team turns a profit.
Kind of sad don't you think?
Just out of curiosity how much of a profit do the Blast turn?

TBH I dont know its never been discussed , I think Baltimore is the only team that runs camps all year long. I know some of the payers do really well with the camps during the off season. I would venture to say the players doing their own camps and play during the year could make 60K to 100K a year .

Neto does a camp and its $120 per child and it's only 4 people running the camp and they get 100+ kids at a time
So the Potential is there to make a good living just on camps .

That's so highly misleading. There isn't an event at the Olympics in which he or this team in involved in.

He's playing in a tournament in Rio at the same time the Olympics are going on. That's about it.
