The number I have seen most is £1,750,000 http://sportsmaza.com/football/stoke-city-players-salaries/
Yeah exactly, he's a godsend. Stoke have a pretty good first xi now but so do a lot of teams, depth is where you can really tell the haves from the have nots, so to have a player like Cameron is fantastic. I think he's one of the best utility players in England.
Godsend??? At first blush you think that's way overblown. Bu think about it, when was the last time Geoff got owned in a game? Exactly. Add to that, the positions he plays - RB, CB (either of them) and DM - are crucial to the grubby unglamourous work of not actually losing the damned game, and Godsend is only a touch hyperbolic. It's a bit like when Brian Clough shelled out the then-insane amount of 650k sterling for Peter Shilton. Nobody paid that much for goalkeepers, but Clough was unmoved; "Peter Shilton wins you matches" was he answer. A little bit of that applies to the quality utility player, and that's Geoff to a T.
Got his first preseason game in on Monday, started and played 60 minutes in 5-0 win vs Orlando City B team. Starting lineup a bit confusing but looked to start in CB with Shaw and Wolly?, but subbed by CM Imbula. So not sure the formation. STOKE CITY: Given (Haugaard 60); Bardsley (Wilson 60), Cameron (Imbula 60), Shawcross (Muniesa 60), Wollscheid (Arnautovic 30), Pieters (Taylor 60); Whelan (Adam 60), Allen (Shenton 60); Bojan (Diouf 60), Shaqiri (N'Goy 60), Crouch (Joselu 30 (Waring 30)).
Hughes said that he might try 3-5-2/5-3-2 this season, just to have more tactical flexibility. IMO, right wingback in GCam's best position on the field. He can race up and down the flank, fill the gaps, man-mark and all without being close to either penalty box. Which is where his problems begin.
Interesting pre-season profile of Stoke at the Guardian. While they're optimistic about Stoke's options going forward there is a heavy focus is on Stoke's defensive weaknesses: Stoke’s more-attractive attacking style seems to have come at the cost of defensive solidity and for that there is no acceptable reason. It seems a symptom of flawed organisation or concentration rather than a necessary trade-off for swish forward play. The injuries certainly did not help, with the long absence of Ryan Shawcross particularly debilitating, but even when Stoke were at full strength Jack Butland was busier than he should have been until he, too, was injured in March. Marc Wilson, signed by Pulis in 2010, deepened concerns last weekend when he held a Q&A session with fans on Twitter and seemed to lament the loss of the club’s defensive rigour, claiming “it would help if we ever did any defensive training – which we don’t”. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/aug/09/premier-league-2016-17-preview-stoke-city
On the bench to start the match. #SCFC XI v @Boro: Given; Bardsley, Shawcross, Wollscheid, Pieters; Whelan, Imbula; Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic; Diouf pic.twitter.com/JNiGGt52Vz— Stoke City FC (@stokecity) August 13, 2016

Great news from my scans, ankle is solid but I've damaged some scar tissue which is giving me the pain, will settle down quick, back soon 👊🏼— Jack Butland (@JackButland_One) August 13, 2016
'Boro were outplaying them early. Negrego-Downing-Ramirez-Adomah had an excellent first half. Off the intervals I saw, Bardsley was having all sort of problems against Downing. Glen Johnson must still be hurt.
Stayed on the bench. 0 minutes in 2 games. Not too worried given his versatility, one injury or bad games from a few starters will get him back in. Hate to see him sitting though.
He was sick last game. Not sure about this one, but could still be recovering, and the performance against the back 4 today can't hurt his chances. It sucked compared to last year at Brittania.
Cam has a decent number of miles on him. Less than 38 games this year would not hurt him tbh. Maybe 20 - 25 for the old man.
i've this funny feeling Geoff is gonna end up racking up more appearances in England than any other non-GK American
Maybe. The man is an athletic 6'3" with excellent ball control, technical ability, decent passing range, as well as an understanding for and ability to play nearly half the positions on the pitch at a high level. Extremely underrated player by those of us around here.
