Honestly I think the point is this. The MASL needs to pick a system Franchise or Single entity and stick with it.
Come up with a set of standards and do not deviate on them for anyone. Actually help owners set up their clubs and sell tickets and show them how to get things going.

The league as a whole should be looking for the following , Hotel Sponsor , Transportation Sponsor , Airline sponsorto help cut cost. Do it in exchange for a $15% discount on fees or something.. I would love to know what the teams League fees / Extension fees / Fines cover. The Masl had done ( zero ) Marketing to help teams .

MY favorite quote from the article
" Budzinski argues that the Likens began making decisions without him, including negotiating agreements for the Comets to change leagues, signing an arena lease, approving employment agreements with players and other matters."

Lewis, I would not put much into this lawsuit.
Bud did the same thing to Former owner Ed Sheetz(Pretty good goalie) still owes him money as does he to former GM Brian Whatley (80 grand)
I am not a insider or passing along rumor.
I was friends with former owner for thirty years and I went to high school with the former GMs wife.
Our suite was next to owners suite for three seasons and we would hang out before and after the games.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out and the only really important thing is that none of the players have contracts yet there still is no head coach but they are having tryouts for the dance team.

It will be interesting for sure . I do know that they were talking to the IPL but I never heard anything more on it. Then all of the sudden the MASL/IPL meet in Baltimore and everything changed and now as someone on this board had said we are all one big happy family again.

    You guys are so desperate.

The IPL peaked at 4 teams and folded. No one was jumping ship. There are no new teams. It's over. End of story.

Has the IPL folded officially? Or is there no clue as to what the heck is going on?

This could become a big issue for the Comets. Budzinski owns the Soccer Dome where the Comets practice.

Congratulations. Three days AFTER you made your initial claim regarding additional teams having been on their way to IPL, and three days AFTER I questioned whether you could provide proof of said claim, you have managed to cite an article that wasn't written until two days AFTER you made your aforementioned claim. Still, that - by your standards - constitutes progress.

So, we have an indication that 2/3 of the owners of one current MASL team - the Missouri Comets - were apparently "negotiating agreements for their team to change leagues". So, were that team to actually shift, and were the league it shifted to actually turn out to be the IPL, the IPL membership would be up to 5 franchises.

That said, your claim was that...

Teams. PLURAL. Including a new franchise in Chicago, that according to you would be "owned by Jeff Kraft".

I eagerly await proof of MULTIPLE teams having been "lined up and ready to go" to the IPL. Ditto for proof of a Jeff Kraft-owned new team in Chicago.

Please tell me how thinking out loud is being desperate. I am literally just hypothesizing what it could all mean. I am not an IPL apologist Syd so please do not group me into "you guys". I am trying to have a discussion of what if and what it all means. Not everybody that posts here is anti MASL.

CNN can now confirm the 10 missing IPL expansion teams disappeared with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

"I told you so," said a defiant Lewis Melcher.

No, honestly you are not beating this horse to death. I have been on here long enough to see your seriously bludgeon a few horses into something resembling pulp. PETA may want to have a word w/ you regarding past indiscretions. That said you have been really clear and polite about this discussion, and when the McDonald's franchise counter came up you countered it well and in a reasonable manner. Let's not get into the teacher union discussion again.

BTW - do you have any views on in-game contests or promotions pitting very young minors against players' significant others?

If I owned the St. Louis Ambush or Cedar Rapids Rampage, I would see if I could cherry pick some of the better Comets players to sign for my team right now. If the Ambush could pick up Assadpour, Leo Gibson, and/or Brian Harris, it would tremendously upgrade the current roster. No guarantee any of these guys want to relocate but worth a shot.

Some of the refugees from the defunct Wichita team ended up on Cedar Rapids, and the Comets last season (I wish the Ambush had grabbed Megson, though). Obviously I hope the Comets survive but other teams in the region should at least take a swing at picking off their better players while the team's future is uncertain.

I can guarantee you that Leo Gibson, Brian Harris, will not be signed by Baltimore I think that they could be good for Harrisburg , But I think Harrisburg needs to start rebuilding with a Goalkeeper . Krotee got injured and may need to miss a few games this season

Harrisburg needs a whole team rebuild but Goalkeeper is a good place to start. Comets GK Pardo did a solid job last season from the games I saw. The Ambush did talk with Pardo after he 'played for free' for Wichita, but he ended up with the Comets instead. Would Pardo agree to be a human pinata at GK for a Harrisburg team that still won't be that great ( even if the new owner pays a few real professional players and not that bus load of rec league guys)? I would not mind seeing Pardo suit up for the Ambush, we need a proven GK . The Ambush are probably a .500 team right now and if they can get a couple Comets guys as discussed above, likely better.

If the Heat added about 6 experienced/very good players (like for example Gibson, Harris,Millwood,Pardo, Etc.) in combined with 6 or 7 of their top players from last year, they would probably be pretty competitive. Getting an experienced GK is a must. Would hate to see the Comets fold, they are one of the top teams in the league and have a solid fan base.

Also, anyone planning to watch tonight's indoor game with USA vs Mexico? Will be on GLS and doubt the game will be archived. Tried to watch a replay of the last match earlier this summer, but GLS did not archive it! I noticed I cannot watch a number of MASL replays on GLS ,both online and on Roku, they need to do a better job on archiving their replays. If not the whole game, just archive the highlights if possible.

I think your predictions of the Comets demise will be about as accurate as your forecasts for IPL success.

I agree with Syd . I doubt comets go anywhere. Brian Harris has a full time job and is entrenched in the area. He will not leave town for a soccer season. I will be surprised if he plays at all next year his full time employer may not like him missing work. This will all be played out Comets will either be sold in full to Bud or the Likens will buy out Bud. It is a shame that this is the press they have but it will be worked out and then Vahid will be named the new Coach. The player contracts will get worked out and there will only be a couple open spots next year anyway.

I hope things work out for the Comets. I have seen situations in minor league hockey and arena football where such lawsuits derailed the franchises but the Comets have a strong enough fan base to keep going. I have not predicted anything, only saying that other teams might sign players if instability continued, has happened before. I also said that not all players are willing to relocate ( on the other thread on the Comets).

NSL, I will say that I was one of many fans who hoped for a better league than the MASL. Obviously it has not worked out. That does not change the fact that the MASL is a poorly managed and amateur operation. That is a main reason I won't have season tickets this coming season in Saint Louis (yes the team here has not won much, that is a smaller part of my decision). If you are an MASL fan, I respect that but do not agree with it. I choose to not endorse such a sub-par league anymore. I have other things to do with my time. No other alphabet soup league is going to rescue indoor soccer. Optimism on that front is a waste of time, apparently.

It seems that the owners of the MASL has done more to embarrass indoor soccer than anyone else. There was Seattle, Texas, Hartford, and now potentially Kansas City. We don't have all the facts, but fake emails or not, it still looks bad and it continues a pattern of owners making the news instead of the players; and not for the right reasons.

Mr. Hale spoke about standards and strengthening the ownership ranks and he got shouted down. Now to be fair, the owners in Kansas City were/are strong from a financial point of view, but the infighting still looks bad. There is absolutely no league leadership and some of the MASL apologists wonder why Mr. Hale formed the IPL. We now see that KC (at least some of their owners) wanted to join the IPL. Trust me, when the dust settles, Mr. Hale's prediction of 8 - 10 teams will be proven correct. The MASL will probable crawl forward, but it will be changed with much higher standards. Victory Mr. Hale.

With the MASL being damaged goods and Mr. Hale holding the ultimate upper hand, I would strongly suggest rebranding the MASL to the IPL. Much higher standards may not be enough to cover the tarnished image that the league "leaders" has bestowed upon it.

At the end of last season Krotee announced that he was leaving the Heat and looking to continue playing elsewhere.

I hope you are right NSL2004. I really do.

However this has gone beyond the point of being about money, fans or attendance. The courts are going to weigh in on this and anytime the courts jump in...........it's never good. This team was run as a good but not great team. They were professional, played in a good barn, treated players well. They still took a $3.1 million dollar loan to sustain the operations that has not been paid back.

    This could end quickly..............
