UEFA is changing the rules and the magical formula. We got the 4th CL spot back from 2018. Happy times we can continue neglecting Europa League. http://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Champ...osti-meriti-storici-le-big-160659992455.shtml
Hmm as expected goalposts shift once the English and the money invested face the risk of losing out. Better to sort this out now than have egg on their face. sickening.
This isnt actually the greatest of news for Serie A. Would have been better to reclaim the 4th CL spot from the Prem
They are actually considering a special AC Milan rule where the fourth place is awarded by considering historical performances.
That's what I'm talking about. Milan is the most successful team in Europe in Serie A, so no matter what place they finish in the table they get that "historical performances" spot by default having 7 trophies themselves
So basically the cl is watered down to allow terrible teams good from history. Why don't we just award Pro Vercelli the scudetto every year?
Juve take their spot year after year. They don't need #wildcardz. Anyways Milan is worried about salvezza at this point and not the CL.
The historical team is so dumb. It's the Champions League.......it's the teams that either won their league or finished in a high position. Why let some crappy team in because they won a bunch in the 70s and 80s? lol
Why let a 3rd and 4th place team in it? The Champions League should only have the champions of each league, then let the rest go to the Europa League, bring back the Cup Winners Cup for the rest.
I'm 50/50 on this. In a way it's the "champions" league.....it makes sense for it to be just the champions. That being said, it would kinda water down the event. The fact is the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th place teams in the higher associations (Italy, Spain, Germany etc) are infinitely better than say the champion of Iceland. It all depends what you want I guess. A true champions league where it's just the champions or a tournament that truly has all of the best teams in Europe.
I doubt that. The way the news article reads is just that the new club coefficent has bonus points for past titles. So Milan might jump from pot 2 to pot 1 is some seeding maybe through that rule. All spots are awarded by league position though. So if Milan finish 5th, they won't get in.
