I have a pair of tickets in section 134 for sale. Face value of course. Some friends scored tickets in the lottery and I'm sitting with them now anyway. If anyone wants them PM me, I'd much rather sell them to a fan on here than resort to CL/stubhub.

I couldn't justify flying across the country for this so I'm forced to settle for stoke v Orlando city instead. Bleh

We are going to play the MLS All-stars on national television Thursday with a central defense that consists of Calum Chambers and either Nacho Monreal or Rob Holding.

    Wow.

I'd imagine it'd be Nacho-Holding-Chambers-Bellerin. Maybe add Bielik in there. Either way its preseason

I just hope Wynalda or whatever dip shit they have commentating makes several references to our depleted central defense during the broadcast.

Ive been of the opinion since we signed on that this was a terrible year to agree to play the MLS all-stars. Its a no win situation. Giving up 4+ goals because you had to play 2nd string players is not exactly how you build a global brand in this country . . .

Since it will be on ESPN, I believe it's gonna be Adrian Healey calling the PBP and Taylor Twellman (former MLS great with the New England Revolution) will be doing the color analysis, so you don't have to worry about Eric Wynalda (he's on FOX/FS1/FS2), with his dipshit remarks, and THANK GOD that we also don't have to ever worry about Gus Johnson (also on FOX/FS1/FS2) ever butchering yet another match or a players' name again!!!

But here's the latest from the MLS on Thursday's match:

    http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2016-07-28-mls-all-star-team-vs-arsenal/preview

BTW, I won't be able to watch the match LIVE as it happens, as I do have to work over at Oak Bay Animal Hospital (M-F from 4:30-7:00 pm, with some weekends for feeding/walking purposes 3 times/day) so I'll have to set it to record it onto a DVD-R using my Sony DVD recorder from the live broadcast, and please, no spoilers so I can enjoy the match later on and see The Gunners tear the MLS' best apart!!! COYF'n'G!!!

It occurred to me just now that this game is being played on a Thursday afternoon at 4:30pm local time.

Really bizarre for this type of event, I can only assume they're trying to get some viewership in the UK and the rest of Europe?

I'd bet it's more of the US time thing. It starts at 7pm central time. So that'd make it 1am in the UK. Anyone heard anything about TV for the Chivas game?

They're going to have their work cut out for them too. Plenty of strong attackers in this all-star team, Giovinco and Drogba are fresh off of hat-tricks. Piatti is dangerous and the center mid for Dallas is f---ing good.

I'm not expecting Arsenal to win this, but I really don't care. I'm just excited to see these guys in person.

Of course it's for US TV. The MLB All Star Game also started at 5 pacific, so children in the east and central are still awake for it.

What? You actually think that we're gonna play half-assed and not try to win this thing??? While Arsene Wenger might not put his normal Premier League starting XI out there at first, he's certainly not going to want to get us embarrassed out there, don't forget, we are marketing our brand name of football out here in the States. If we get blown out, what example are you setting for recruiting future Gooners to The Gunner Nation??? That would look pretty bad for most of us Americans, especially our younger future recruits, who (I admit) only think on first impression and that's it, they might not want to be Gooners if we don't (at least) "show up", so COYF'n'G!!!

I just reminded Alice (my Love Of My Life since 1989) to please leave the TV on ESPN tonight while my DVD recorder records the entire match, it will be set to record starting at 4:15 and stop at around 7:30 pm, but because I will be at work throughout the entire match (I punch in at 4:30 and don't get done until well after the match is over), so I won't be able to check in with you guys until I get to watch the match for myself when I get home.

Please no spoilers guys, I'll pick up the conversation with all of you after I view the match in its entirety, and what strips will we be wearing tonight? We already know that we'll be donning our new away kits vs. Chivas, and I can't wait to see for myself what I'm gonna be donning this coming season, as I will be buying all 3 players' strips this Tuesday to go with the new short-sleeved GK shirt I already proudly own. So COYF'n'G!!!

I actually don't want them to go 100%. It's an exhibition pre-season game. Still, they should be able to go 80% and win. I expect they will try and win up to that point.

lol I want them to win, I just have a feeling MLS will best them today.

"Arsene Wenger's magic, he wears a magic hat. And when he saw the all-star game he said I'm havin' that"

But anyway, leaving the house now. Hope my liver makes it back in one piece.

Yeah but No Ollie, no Mesut Ozil, no Alexis, no Koscielny, I don't like the sign of things, most of your best players are all left home, at least they should be on the bench if not in the starting XI. Fans recognize guys like them, they've watched both the Euros and also Copa America on TV this past couple of months, and not bringing them along on the trip (for at least one of the 2 matches or for great PR) just is not (as Triple H says) "what's best for business", but, at least we brought Nacho, we brought both of our top netminders in Petr Cech and David "The Wall" Ospina, I have a feeling that Ospina get the nod against the MLS, especially with his rock-solid performance at Copa America, especially this save against Peru during the Copa America quarterfinals:

These are key guys and they've barely had a break in a year. No way, I think it's totally the right call to let them have a holiday. The PL season is just too grueling.

Right about now... If I had paid money to see Arsenal, I'd feel ripped off. If I had paid money to see the MLS All-stars beat a big-name Euro team, I'd be feeling pretty good.
