If we add Mahrez I can't be mad at winger. I feel we can use other players at CF that play a different way, rather than just hold the ball up, and we can still do well.
yep and the rumored price is 25mil euros. Not bad for a starting caliber CB given the current market.
Even better when you consider our injuries. Having two solid CBs going into the season would be very helpful.
Do we know if he is still on holiday from being with Germany at the Euros? Any danger of him missing the beginning of the season too?
He is still on holidays so if he joins, he will miss at least 2 games. I heard Fabian Schar is an option as well, very good defender.
It's only opportunity costs if there you actually take the other opportunities. That is, we only lose by "overpaying" if that extra money would have been used elsewhere. As we've seen the cash grow, the club hasn't used this "opportunity savings" elsewhere lately. You are speaking of the clubs transfer plan like you know what it was/is. You have created this narrative like the whole plan turned on Vardy deciding to come. If so, this is such an incrimination of our xfer activity since 1) they didn't make him an offer he couldn't refuse and 2) they apparently had no feasible plan B should he refuse. It's not like LC offered him zlatesque money to stay. I will agree that if we get those other two players, it will be a decent window. That said I'm still annoyed we will not have a new attacker for the pool and LC games. They are huge games and will set a marker for the following month or so. Also, I have zero confidence we will get Lacazette. He's been on arsnes radar for a while and if we are willing to pay the suggested amount, we probably could have had him instead of Danny or instead of extending theos contract the past two years. In summary, I'm betting Lyons valuation to be higher than wengers.
February to February cash balance is actually down year over year (not by a lot, but still down). The narrative that Arsenal are swimming in cash is overblown, because most of Arsenal's profits are generated by player trading and property sales: I'm going off of what others have said on twitter - not my narrative. If you choose to disbelieve them, that's your right. However, it's not an incrimination, because he chose to stay for less money at Leicester, after he had essentially accepted Arsenal's offer - negotiations had gone on with Vardy for a month(allegedly), and the deal was practically done (and Vardy's agent must have approached Arsenal, because how else would we have known of the release clause?). The player changed his mind and took less money - crazy crap happens.
Possible, but I'm going off of this: All our striker eggs were in the Vardy basket. The club were absolutely convinced he was going to join, so initially, there was no 'plan b'.— AFCAMDEN (@AFCAMDEN) July 6, 2016
Apparently Coquelin revealed on snapchat today that he has been training at CB....AW is literally not signing anybody this Summer. Same old story.
Still hoping that has more to do with lack of CBs on the tour, than a permanent solution. But would it surprise anyone here?
How tall is he? I mean I do not remember him being spectacular at heading the ball. I'd much rather have Nacho. what do you guys think of Adel Rami? Pretty solid player.
Well they need to have someone there doesn't mean were not buying a cb. Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
Pretty good read regarding our transfer business so far..."summer of falling short": http://www.beinsports.com/us/premie...al&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
True and agreed. However, past experiences do not instill much confidence on this front. Let's just hope the Schär and Mustafi rumors are true.
