Predictably, we're told the Lodeiro transfer is not as close to finalized as Argentine reports suggest. Sigh.— Sounder At Heart (@sounderatheart) July 22, 2016 Apparently its still not done contrary to eariler reports today.
RSL gets a young Paraguayan striker on a six month loan with an option to purchase his contract. Meet 19 year old Pedro Baez from Cerro Porteno and the Paraguayan U20 NT:
That would work out to perhaps three appearances this year. Maybe he'll get that with RSL only having four active forwards in a 4-3-3, but I am not so sure.
While you were sleeping............. Sources: Fabian Castillo closing in on Trabzonspor move http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1110...abian-castillo-closing-in-on-trabzonspor-move If a player is willing to move to Turkey right now, they really must want to leave. Its worth remembering that Castillo is under contract at FCD until 2019 on only a 170k/year contract. Personally, I think 3-4 million is a pretty lowball offer for Castillo. But what do I know? Nothing. For FCD fans, we were feeling too good about how things were going this season.
Just as a heads up, you know you're posting in the Player Movement thread, not the Weekly PBP thread, yes?
They have to sell Castillo. He's 24 and not young anymore. They wanted more, but $10 million was always a fantasy.
They don't have to sell him. He's under contract until 2020. It's a lowball offer from a team in a second-tier European league in a country that is undergoing a governmental crisis. FC Dallas is in the middle of a really promising season, and this could potentially derail it. It's hard to believe that Fabian and the team wouldn't be able to get a comparable offer in a better situation during the winter break.
Well actually they don't......seeing as when a DP is sold, teams don't get to use the entire transfer fee for new player acquisitions. From the roster rules: If a Designated Player is transferred or loaned, the club will receive all amounts of the transfer or loan fee revenue until it has recouped all of the out-of-pocket cash payments made by the club in connection to that player prior to any sharing arrangement with the league. After such recoup, the transfer or loan of the Designated Player shall be treated as any other transfer with the club receiving two-thirds (2/3) of the corresponding transfer or loan fee revenue A club shall receive three-fourths (3/4) the corresponding transfer or loan fee revenue (including agent fees and other expenses) from any transaction involving a Homegrown Player (regardless of service years). A club shall receive the transfer or loan fee revenue (including agent fees and other expenses) from any transaction involving a Generation adidas Player or player acquired via the MLS SuperDraft based on the number of MLS service years All remaining portions of the transfer or loan revenue fees are retained by the league. Usage of Revenue The club’s share of transfer or loan fee revenue may only be used as follows: The club may assign up to $650,000 of the transfer/loan revenue as General Allocation Money. (In the case of Designated Players, such assignment of Allocation Money can only take place after the club has received 100% of their out-of-pocket investment) The remaining balance of the club’s share (if any), and which cannot be traded, will be available to be used by clubs in the following ways: Against the expenses incurred by the club in relation to the costs of an existing or new Designated Player With league approval, clubs can use the revenue against an expense that would (i) would not otherwise have been incurred by the club; and (ii) reasonably represents an investment in the league or club (e.g. youth development and training facilities). http://pressbox.mlssoccer.com/content/roster-rules-and-regulations
They have him signed through then, on $170K? When did he re-up last? I could swear Lalas said $600k and this move will double it to $1.2 million and they retain a 15% interest.
His guaranteed salary on the MLSPU site says 170k. However, when he signed his deal he became a DP again so his compensation has to be north of 400k. So, no clue what he is really making.
Wasn't Marcelo Larrondo being linked with MLS recently? Well it's official ... he's going to River Plate for about $4 million ...
A lot of teams need help and it's extremely quiet while massive money is being thrown around globally. Who's going to step up and show some ambition? Or is complacency engulfing the league? There's next to no outgoing traffic either aside from Castillo. Just saw this though. Castillo has been eyeing a Euro move for quite a while. In fact, he really hasn't played that well this season until the last couple of games. There's been some speculation that he was disappointed about not being gone already. Basically, we know that in order for him to get another chance with Colombia....................he needs to be playing in Europe. And while Turkey may not be the best spot, it at least gets him over there. By the way, 4 million would be around the biggest deal ever for the sale of a foreign MLS player. Isn't that record still held by Stern John, from way back in 1999? Maybe Giancarlo Gonzalez' sale to Palermo eclipsed that? We'll have to see what the final number is. People can say its a little "lowball," but that's much more than what the league got for a long list of players..........like say Fredy Montero. Wasn't Montero only 2 million when sold to Sporting? So Castillo is going to be about twice that much. That's more than the league has gotten recently for guys like Nemeth, Martins, Juninho, etc. Sure, its always nice to get more. However, its a good fee for a guy that apparently doesn't want to be in the league anymore. And hopefully we'll get a little more due to the sell-on fee. From an FCD perspective, many believed that the signing of Lizarazo from Cruz Azul was in preparation for this sale. He can play out wide, and has done so this season. He just hasn't yet found his form. New Brazilian signing Getterson can play out wide. And then there's Akindele & Craft. They are similar forward/winger types. So FCD has the position covered, albeit none of those players are likely to be as impactful as Castillo has been.
Nicolas Lodeiro update: 757648643566567428 is not a valid tweet id #news | Nicolas Lodeiro is new player #Seattle Sounders of #MLS. Traveling at 20 hour of Buenos Aires to the USA. That's 8pm their time.
Reportedly sharing a flight with Alvaro "El Flaco" Fernandez. I'm not sure what to make of Flaco's return. I didn't like seeing him leave when he was traded to Chicago for Garberbux, but that was 4 years ago and he's been roaming around S. America failing to catch on since he left Chicago.
