According to a rumours column on CNN/SI's website, there is talk that Al Fayed is in preliminary talks with Halil Falyali and Asil Nadir, two Turkish multi-millionaires who fled to England to escape Fraud charges. I think they got this information from the Mirror in England, but I could not find anything on the Mirror's website. What does everyone think about this? Here is the link to where I first read this: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/scorecard/10/04/truth.rumors1/index.html?cnn=yes
I did find the article from the Mirror's website: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/sport...line=nadir-link-to-fulham-sale-name_page.html
I heard it was all speculation plus the mirrior is known for making up its own rumours...especially since it wasn't in any other paper. If they had original info, of this calibur, it would be on the back page in bright colors.
I recently heard that because these Turkish guys are running from the law in Turkey that the FA would not allow these two to buy the team. The rumour however does go to show that Al Fayed might be looking to get out of the business. It may not be these two, but I would guess Al Fayed is definitely going to sell sometime soon.
More rumours are swirling about the possible sale of the club to some Turkish investors. This is from sporting-life.com: http://www.sportinglife.com/story_get.dor?STORY_NAME=nonwire_soccer/04/10/13/manual_114515.html
A statement from Fulham Football Club refuting any possibility that Al Fayed is gonna sell the club: http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/displaynews.asp?id=5486
With a lot of websites like the Sun, the Mirror, SkySports, etc reporting a meeting or something along those lines, do you think it is safe to say that Al Fayed is looking to sell the club? Do you think the Fulham message was a load of crap?
The Turkish investors seem pretty dead set on buying Fulham despite reports out of the Fulham camp that this is not gonna happeN. What I want to know is if these guys do buy the club, what kind of difference will they make? Will they be willing to buy some new players, etc? http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=313136&cc=5739
The denial on the FFC website doesn't sound very credible. "We're not selling but we'll talk to anyone who wants to buy" doesn't add up. If these guys are willing to pay anything like the figure that's being discussed you have to believe they will do what's necessary to stay in the Premiership and fill up the Cottage. One possibility I haven't seen mentioned is whether they might buy a partial stake now, with the possibility of a full buyout later.
I am definitely thinking something is gonna happen in the next month or two. There is too much talk and speculation out there right now from many different sources. If the new ownership is willing to put money into the club and help them, I am all for it. If not, well then I am not for it. Quite simple actually.
It looks as thought Malcolm Glazer's bid to buy Manchester United is not gonna happen after all. From reports on www.tribalfootball.com, Glazer is now interested in buying Fulham. That is something I do not want to happen. This guy is garbage. http://www.tribalfootball.com/october/englisnews1141004.html
I can't see Glazer buying Fulham. He is too big an egomaniac and would only want a "name" club. I agree with you that if he did no good would come of it.
From www.tribalfootball.com, Al Fayed has put a 110 Million Pound price tag on Fulham Football Club. I have never heard of tribalfootball.com, so I have no idea if it is a reputable source, but it is interesting none the less. http://www.tribalfootball.com/october/englinews6151004.html
Tribal football has the most made up rumours on the net and are very very very far from reputable (just for further notice!) They take stories from a year or two ago and report them like they are going on now. Crap I tell you!
By the way, this is the first I've heard of this since I left for London...wow, I've been out of the loop.
The atmosphere at the Cottage was unbelievable, the Fulham fans there are really top class. I couldn't do it justice by typing about it but all in all the crowd had alot of passion and the singing was non-stop!!!
Judging by what I was reading on the tribal football website, it did seem like a load of garbage, but I thought it might be a good discussion topic. The same website is reporting that Fulham are hot after Newcastle's back up goalie Steve Harper. Funny stuff.
I really hate tribal football but when there is nothing going on with your team there's always something about them in tribal...
