    I personally think it's a good test.

I think the biggest thing for both nations is that they learn different styles or tempo.

But I think most fans will look at Afghanistan and say, look, they lost 6:0 to Syria....they must be crap! Tie could go either way for me, but as it's a friendly just days before big qualifiers, that I doubt the game will tell us any truth in any side.

Hello. I'll be visiting Thailand for the first time, in a few months. When I travel, I like seeing a local match. The only weekend day I will be there is Saturday, December 5 (flying out Dec. 6). I looked up the league schedule and see all matches that weekend are on Dec. 6.

Is that "final", or do some matches move to Saturday for TV? Obviously, I'd love to attend a match, but if not, I'll just buy a kit of some sort. Thanks!

December 5th is the King's Birthday. A mega holiday in Thailand. Everything is closed, even the bars. The only place to buy a beer is in the western hotels. That's why there are no games that day either.

There are no TPL matches on that day. However, there is a full programme of League One fixtures.

Quite a few of these games are in easy reach from Bangkok - I'm assuming that's where you'll be. If you're still interested, reply on this thread or drop me a line and I'll send you the list.

    Hope that helps.

good info, I forgot about League 1. I just assumed everybody was off for the holiday. I wonder if they will be able to sell beer at the stadiums that day.

Me again. I just noticed that the Thai FA Cup semifinals are this week and I'll be in Bangkok by then.

    1. Are tickets easy to get / can I walkup gameday and buy?
    2. Which of the 2 matches would be better to watch, from a neutral fan perspective? (fun passionate fan bases, nicer stadium, atmosphere?)
    3. Are either/both stadiums accessible by transit from downtown Bangkok? An initial search shows the National Stadium is (by bus), but the other semifinal is not.
    4. Anything else I should be aware of, as a soccer fan, but one who knows nothing about Thai soccer?

    Thanks!

MTU - Army would be the better game but I guess Rajamangla will be easier to get to and tickets would be available as BU and Chainat couldn't fill this up on their own.

I'd be tempted to Sky train it to Ramkamhaeng station and then taxi it. Road can be a nightmare with traffic

    So...

...am I paranoid or was the branding for last week's game a wee bit partisan?

The season's over, then. Buriram won everything. I'm pretty certain the Mekong Club Thingy was just made up on the spot to give them something else to win. But an insincere congratulations to their chequebook nonetheless.

2016's season starts in a mere eight weeks. Or not. I dunno. Floodlights failed in Sukhothai around 3,000 months ago and now the entire league structure is going to have to be reborn to accommodate whatever exceptional and unusual difficulty has arisen from this seemingly innocuous event.

Is there anything greater to that than anyone and everyone using any excuse to throw a hissy fit unless they get what they want? Probably not, but it looks like the league might be going back to twenty teams to make room for all the sulks.

    Happy new year, all!

Yeah, I know, I'm just being bitter. My hatred for Buriram is growing by the day: them and their block of fans paid 300-a-piece to chant; the shirt giveaways; the free concerts... They're like when Wigan were in the Prem, if everyone always banged on about how awesome Wigan's support was.

    And... breathe. :)

Indeed. Did Payu rent a club? Chonburi let him play with their toy? Is this why he started "Inter Pattaya" in the regionals?

I'm pretty sure Ruidiaz is signing for their rival club, Muangthong United.

Yeah, exactly. And since I'm a fan of theirs, I'd like some info.

There were rumours of him going to either Muangthong or Buriram, but it's looking like the former now.

I will be in Bangkok for the first time next week and I would like to attend the Army United game vs Bangkok Glass 2 July 2016 at 20:00, I assumed I would be able to buy a ticket at the stadium a few hours before the game. Is this feasible?

I've found the following information from someone who has attended a few games in Thailand.

"Many Thai football matches, especially games of the national team, are sold out in advance. You can book your ticket online on Thai Ticket Major. There is usually a 20 baht booking fee involved for each ticket. Print out the receipt and go to the 7/11 convenient store, after paying they give you the confirmation paper that allows you to pick up the ticket on the match day at the stadium (recommended one hour before kick off).

Even if you attending a normal Thai Premier League match, it might be hard to get a ticket by just showing up ten minutes before kick off, so just to be on the safe side and you really want to see a game, book it online.

The ticket price for Thai football matches are between 100 and 500 Baht, depending on seat location."

As far as I can tell that website only sells tickets for two teams, any advice?

You'll be able to turn up on the day and get in.

Look at www.thai-fussball.com this has excellent information about Thai football.

Thai Honda are playing in Bangkok on 3rd July, Port FC on the 2nd. You've also got the Bangkok regional league playing that weekend, so more Bangkok based sides in action for you to follow and watch.
