I keep seeing this all over the board with Pogba and James, rotation, lots of mins to go around, Modric is old, I just cannot see how it makes sense for player or club , to pay $80million or $120million for a player whose wages will be sky high and then have them on the bench, I just don't see that as good business sense in the club's eyes

we as fans would love that because it means great players all over and fantastic players to come in if anyone is injured but IMO, if you are in that bracket, you either start, or if there is no space for you, you move on

I really think players like to play, if Pogba comes here he will play and if James can't find a space on the team he will leave ( or be sold) I don't see any scenario where he sits around waiting for one of the untouchable front three to be injured or for Copa matches only,

I do not think that will happen at all, players need to play to have game rhythm, if he is just sitting around waiting on injury for a chance or Copa matches we may get a version of him that we have already seen last season, I could be wrong but I just don't see that scenario playing out in the real world.

Certain posters here want to sell him in order to sign that child abuser Hazard. Talk about insane. LOL

I can admit to being one of those posters... IF we are going to continue playing 4-3-3. Just don't see him being great for us in 4-3-3. If I'm wrong, then that'll be a good thing because James is not my concern, Real Madrid is.

We haven't even been linked seriously to Hazard even once this summer so I doubt Zizou has any interest.

We might as well keep James if we don't sign Pogba.

I like James alot, I bought my daughter his kit but for his value and the system we play its entirely reasonable to consider selling him and using those resources for actual needs. He's an AM in a system that doesn't use one. If we are going to move beyond Ronaldo this summer and try something else then maybe it makes sense but not with a 4/3/3 formation and the players we have to choose from.

Exactly. I think people are quick to forget that the player himself will not be happy with his current role on the team either. Use the 80 million or so to fill 2 or 3 spots for squad players.

He has to go for sure. It just sucks that he does because he's a truly special player.

We have to let him go and buy some depth in the midfield plus a striker

james played great in 4-3-3 under carlo at any position.. zz just need to give him playing time next season that is the only thing matters for james.. i know he can help this team just like his first season.

He had his best games in the 442 when Bale was out and he was placed as RM. Even decent games as RW, as LCM in a 433, no thanks.

Err... no, he did not. He sucked eggs as a CM. For example, he was a complete liability in the 0-4 drubbing we got from Barcelona last season. Not completely his fault... we should never have played him as a CM in a 4-3-3 with Modric and Kroos.

To top things off... we played him on the right of Modric, which means we essentially played with 4-2-4, something like this:

    Cristiano ---- Benzema
    -------------------Bale
    ----------------------------- James
    Kroos --- Modric
    Marcelo --- Ramos --- Varane --- Danilo
    Navas
The imbalance was shocking. I'd urge you to watch the highlights and note the players' positioning. Also, notice James jogging back nonchalantly while Barcelona scored their 2nd goal... hardly the kind of action I want to see from a CM. And then who gets the blame for stuff like this 2nd goal? Not the Cristiano's or James' who make the line-ups imbalanced... but other players on this team such as Ramos or Kroos... they get blamed because they have to cover for stupid choices of line-ups or for the deficiencies of other players (such as Cristiano 95% of the time not doing anything other than stuff that might result in a goal for himself, Marcelo's lack of brain and sometimes lackadaisical showings, James' lack of pressing/positioning). Example, people were bitching about Kroos not doing his job in defense as DLM... but I'm not sure how Kroos is supposed to play DLM and LCM at the same time, if you look at the line-up above. Example, people bitching about Ramos being out of position for the 2nd goal when the problems started earlier with Modric and James being out of position, and James not bothering to help in defense.

So, I just don't get it... 95% of RM fans bitch at Florentino, blaming him for our coaches using imbalanced line-ups such as this 4-3-3 against Barcelona... yet when it comes to players some of you like, y'all want that same imbalanced 4-3-3 line-up to be played just to accommodate the player... even though that player is contributing to it being imbalanced. This applies to not just to James fans... but Cristiano fans also... and even those who think Modric should play at DLM. Watch these highlights and please tell me... Just why?

We need to either play Kroos at DLM and 2 B2B CMs next to him... or we continue using a DM such as Casemiro/Krychowiak flanked by Kroos + Modric. No James as CM ever again, please and thank you. No Modric at DLM, please and thank you also.

What's your point? Carlo is gone and this will be James' 3rd season if he's here when it starts. So, I'm not lost in your argument... you're just getting lost while staring into James' eyes son, control yourself.

Would Hazard fit into the 4-3-3 as well in Hames' position? I doubt..

He is deployable in one of the BBC's slots.

That's what I'd want him for IF we were making a move and planned to use him in 4-3-3, RWF/LWF.

Let's be clear now, James can't play in any of the front 3 positions of a 4-3-3 and he also can't play as a winger in a 4-4-2 formation.

If we are looking beyond Ronaldo, then we should be looking to buy a world class winger/forward to slot in.

I'm really struggling to see how James can flourish in any system that doesn't accommodate a number 10.

Why can't he, neither of our wide men hug the touchline much, both of them like to cut inside and trade passes, James can cross and he is certainly better than both of them IMO with the ball at his feet , passing and seeing passing lanes, I disagree with your assumption, it doesn't have to be all about pace, neither of them helped out that much in defense before ZZ got here and I doubt they can do it consistently, Ronaldo is Ronaldo, Gareth? Well......, we've seen already, James can both assist and score goals and sell shirts no slouch at all.

James can't beat anyone on the dribble, is insanely one-footed, slower than my mom, and aside from his crosses which are quality, he ain't going to provide more dynamism or instill fear into any defense out wide unless he is given a lot of space. I'd also prefer an actual winger type or at least someone who works hard like Vasquez on the wing than James. Let's see what Asensio can bring as the other backup wide player. I don't know where James fits.

Bottomline, James took a huge step back this season and has become a large question mark. And you continue to underrate Bale but that's expected at this point.

Had an amazing right-footed curler off the inside of the post tonight which was easily the best chance of the game. Jus' sayin'

Also showed amazing heart. His ceiling is as high as anyone in football. #DONOTSELL

that was very close almost went in.. he can really develop his right foot very easily if he is gonna use it more often... it's just absurd some people here will always highlight his few weakness but never acknowledge his vast greatness... you're correct #DONOTSELL :)
