The banner ads. "Explore Brazilian Women." Yes, please.

I rather have Birnbaum with Cameron at RB than Orozco at RB, so fine with me if true. Big test for Steve though.

I am such a bundle of nerves right now I would lose my mind if that happened. It wouldn't be quite as amazing as Clint's goal seconds into the Ghana game, but it'd be close.

Dempsey and you! Dempsey is going to score a goal and you are going to score points towards being a hater :)

Thinking you can't play two lefties together is so rigid-minded. Brooks plays short and righties are paired together all the time and it's not questioned. People barely pay attention to which side a righty would play. What's the difference?

Very true. They have been rock solid this tournament for the most part, and are part of the "spine" of the team which is so important (GK, CBs, CMs).

We shall see. It's definitely not going to be an ideal situation either way. I wish Yedlin had just chilled out after that first yellow card :(

But, who knows. I will believe the official line up once it is posted by US soccer.

If Lichaj, or Villafana were on the roster, then it wouldn't have mattered. There wouldn't have been any drop-off, and in fact there might well have been an improvement. They're defensively sound and better technically.

Besler in the center is the best option he made available to himself. Besler has been the steadiest CB for the USNT the last few years, him and Cameron were rock solid in the Confed Cup playoff after both being out of favor w/ the nt, and Brooks is playing at a higher level than them both; so I don't think switching the pairing is likely to create a problem. Brooks' domination is the primary reason the CB pairing is working well. He's still in there.

Not totally sure how I feel about this, but I'm gonna defer to Klinsmann that Besler has looked good in training. I definitely feel better with Fab vs. Montero than Orozco vs. Montero if this is indeed true.

Anyone on a yellow who gets another one today will be out for the semifinal. After this game, cards are cleared for anyone on only one.

2 YC before the semi =RC
After QF all single YC are wiped out for the SF.
We have many players on 1YC right now but we need to win more than we need to play it safe imo.

I'm a bit terrified. Would rather have slid Cameron out

Sounds like Klinsy was engaging in a little misdirection with his comments about Orozco playing.

If offensive and/or defensive wing dynamic isn't working, maybe they can switch Besler to CB during the game. I just think Cameron matches up better out there defensively, would even provide you a little more width, and is more schooled in passing along the sideline when his options are dwindled (although he's not adept at it). As fb's, I'm kind of indifferent about Besler vs. Orozco.

Great. Followup question - who is currently on a yellow?

Thanks in advance to anyone who knows!

This could prove to be genius and who knows, maybe Besler will prove to be a valuable LB option?

That said if this blows up in our face Jurgen loses all the faith he's regained by some the past couple weeks

I wouldn't mind that. Experienced defender. Turns this into a defacto 3-5-2, a formation that works for veteran teams.

    Besler is not a LB.

    Good lord.

Just need a solid defensive outing from him though.

I don't blame Grant Wahl for taking a bigger platform, but man..his work on Fox has been pretty much the definition of selling out.

My FIFA 16 based prediction says:

    USA 2:0 Ecuador
PK for the U.S. in the 7th minute, drawn by Wood, and taken by Dempsey.
Late goal in the 90th by Zardes.

Who know? It could happen

Bester in no way our future LB option. But this was the perfect move imo. Orozco was gonna get bleeped on that side.
