You mean this point "I still dont see what the need is for laceless uppers."? You even say what's the point further down? Had to lol at that for sure.

That's the only thing I was addressing. The rest of it hurt my eyes from the non-sense you were spewing.

I am just curious as to how you came to rate Josh as a subpar player? Have you seen him play regularly by being his teammate/coach/opponent? Are you judging him based on his technique in videos that mostly just show some ball striking? Furthermore why does his footballing ability even matter as it relates to his status as the current maven of football boot reviews?

You imply that playing ability/history does matter significantly to be credible as a reviewer. Then you outright say it doesn't matter. Then imply again that it does matter and allude to style trumping substance all around, which is implying Josh is all show and again not credible because he isn't as good of a player as dare I say, you (in your own opinion). It's pretty transparent why you won't attack Bryan at SC101 given that most of his reviews come off as fluff pieces to the IBC...much more than Josh's anyway. Bryan captained a national championship team in college here in the USA, played in MLS, PDL, and I think USL for a bit. Your thinly veiled attempt at self aggrandizing as a better player and thus a better reviewer than someone else based on ability wouldn't hold up there. Bryan is light years ahead of anything you've achieved as a player despite being much more inline with what you are saying is wrong with the reviewers of the world, yet he goes unmentioned by you.

Also, I am pretty sure Josh was a regular member here when you were JonIsAnOwl. SR4U has a very similar name to the site you are/were working for, and you clearly have watched enough of him to rate him as a player and reviewer...don't act like you can't be assed to know his name for sure. That attempt at being too cool for school is laughable.

I was referring to the reviews that I watch/read (of which there are few now, in fact i'd say there are now only a couple).

The rest of it is all unsubstantiated nonsense. Ive never read 'SC101', and I have no idea who Bryan is im afraid.

Dont let that get in the way of your 'drama queen' act, or your continued slander directed at me. Anybody would think youre more important than a moderator of a failing forum....

That's pretty rich coming from you. Your history of "drama queen" behavior is well documented. Hell, it's the reason you're JEN now and not JonIsAnOwl.

I highly doubt you've never heard of SC101 given your role as a boot reviewer for a competing site. Not to mention the fact that you've engaged with other SC101 contributors here. I'm sure I could go back and mine the data from your posts under this handle or your last one and find you to be at best "misremembering"....maybe kinda like this:

I wasn't libelous towards you (slander is spoken, not published). I called you on your bullshit, which you take offense to because you lack substance and character as well as the courage of your convictions. That also isn't libel. It's my opinion of you based on my interactions. If I said "Jon/JEN molests rodents" and tried to pass that unfactual statement off as fact, thus damaging your "reputation" then it's libel if in print, slander if spoken. We all know you're a lot of things, but a rodent molester isn't one of them so I digress.

It's kinda like that time when you had one of your drama queen moments and ranted about gun control. You chose to call me a hillbilly and were sure that I owned an armory and wanted to shoot innocent people or at least condone that act when preformed by others - despite not ever being part of the conversation. You did that with never having spoken to me outside this site, let alone having spent time with me or been exposed to my position on guns, nut jobs, and the legal system. That is libel vs what I said about your childish and annoying behavior.

Again, you're very transparent and I really don't need to say anymore about you or the character traits you display. I have no need to damage your credibility, you do a fine job of that yourself by talking out of both sides of your mouth.

As for the health of the forum...you must know something I don't. While message boards are not the newest form of Internet, it's tried and true; we've been here in this incarnation since 2002 and don't seem to be going anywhere. This isn't my company or my job, it's something I do for free. If it fails, I'm not losing anything other than a regular contact point for a topic on which I'm passionate.

Also, it's been proposed that you be banned. It's not my idea, but one that I fully support. I've held off on doing it in the past b/c I didn't want to seem like I was targeting you or abusing my position. At this point, I'm going through with it because you're a bane on the forum, not just to me.

I guess I'm biased with Bryan from SoccerCleats101 because I've written a few articles for his website.

It also helps he plays on the same team as my cousin!

I don't read all of his reviews so I can't say for certain how much he toes the line, so to speak. But like anybody I like to give him the benefit of the doubt. After all he test a lot more boots than I do.

I think the same goes for Josh honestly and he is fairly upfront about his opinions on things...

I feel sometimes reviewers are locked in by the companies who provide shoes, which is understandable. It is a lot easier to do reviews if you get them from a retailer instead of directly from the company, as we all know they are not likely to give you more shoes if you slag them off!

Is poor little Johnny still upset that his beloved Wednesday didn't manage to get promotion back to the big time perhaps?

I respect Bryan. I wasn't intending to slate him, if it came off that way. I think he writes good reviews, but I have seen him become less critical and more cozy seeming with companies over the years. I get it...he needs to protect his interests as I believe the site is his main income source now vs. starting out. He isn't untrustworthy, I just think he holds back on being as critical as he could be when it comes to under-performing product. He has never overtly lied, just been more PC about saying when something sucks, or kinda sucks. In my limited interactions with him, he's been a nice guy and straightforward. I was supposed to guest in that league for a few weeks when I was in CA several years ago, but my knee was just starting to go bad and I thought it would be a disservice to my friends if I tried to huff around without being able to cut and plant at full stop.

Again, same for Josh...to be fair I have had a lot more personal interaction with him than SC101 folks just because he was a valued member here for a long period of time. I think he does a good job and gives the people what they want in terms of opinion and facts combined. He might lack the high detail that some of us crave in some reviews, but he's gotta appease the masses, much like BB at SC101.

SR4U in my opinion has been a big help for many boot seekers particularly on how he shows the details and how the shoes fit his feet in videos. I am reading a lot of information from sc101 and soccerbible (high quality and nice pictures). And I really enjoy video reviews from Unisport and Freekickerz too. Some areas are of course can be improved such as the mentioned shape of the toebox and width of the heel cup which I concern when I choose my football boots (I have narrow heel).

It suits Nike boots better! ;) I just think the green bit looks out of place. They should have done upper all silver/grey and then used the green for highlights.

I also agree that the industry is headed in a bad direction. I always say I miss the days of going to SoccerBible daily and freaking out whenever there was a new release, nowadays there are so many leaks and so many color ways I'm surprised if a new model doesn't drop every 2 weeks or so. On top of that because of the leaks, you know every boot coming out for the next 1.5 years; it's killed all the excitement. The boot community is not nearly as fun as it was say before 2012.

I agree! Its still fun being a fan of the smaller brands. I mean we rarely seem leaks of Mizuno boots, or Pantofola D'Oro. So in a way it can still be exciting sometimes but we the big 3 I agree that the excitement is gone.

What are people's thoughts on the Gloro 16.1? Does anybody have experience with it over a period of time?

After trying the more 'complicated' boots from Adidas / Nike, thinking about going cheap and simple :)

One of the top sellers at my store. Its turning into a Copa in that people come in and buy another pair without looking at anything else.

Agree. I still remember the last time I got the excitement about a pack before major tournament is Clash Collection for EURO 2012. Now every single week there are new releases, new colorways and seems like Nike or adidas are trying almost every way to milk their customers.

Also about leaked boots, FootyHeadlines is something that responsible for this. They kill all the excitement with low-quality photos of upcoming colorways or model.
