Did we do one of these already? Apologies if so.

Let's build a list of moves, including moves from overseas clubs back to the U.S., here.

We should clearly mark confirmed moves, rumors and trials/training stints. (But let's keep discussion of all of those things in the actual player threads, which we can link to from the list if people like.)

Here was the 2015 thread (or, at least, I think this was the right one):

I was going to combine it with the WWII history thread; something like, "an X-player seems to be heading to FK Volgograd"; and then there's a primer on the winter battles of 1942-43.

No question Stuttgart will be promoted due to Green's tally of goals.

Parra is definitely leaving Kaiserslautern. No other information on possible places he would transfer to.

Here's an incomplete list of out-of-contract players. Mistakes are almost certainly included. Mexican-based players are entirely excluded because nobody seems to have contract info for them. There will certainly be a lot of player movement, which we'll most likely find out when the LigaMX database is updated.

My source is primarily Transfermarkt. There are some young players who I didn't expect to be on the list (e.g. Akale). Most likely they have quietly signed new deals and Transfermarkt hasn't noticed.

    Cody Cropper (MK Dons)
    Aleks Gogic (Fleetwood Town)
    Adam Hobbs (Optik Rathenow)
    Chris Konopka (Ross County)
    Benjamin Machini (Mallorca B)
    Brendan Moore (Fleetwood Town)
    Zack Steffen (Freiburg II)
    Quentin Westberg (Tours)
    David Yelldell (Bayer Leverkusen)

Danny Barbir (West Bromwich Albion U18/U21)
    Travis Brent (Almere City)
    Tyrese Chatmon (Energie Cottbus U17)
    Jason Gorskie (Pietà Hotspurs)
    Ryan Malone (Magdeburg)
    Shaq Moore (Real Oviedo B)
    Shane O'Neill (Apollon Limassol)
    Antonee Robinson (Everton U21)
    Demarveay Sheron (Karlsruhe U19)
    Zak Whitbread (Shrewsbury Town)

    Mukwelle Akale (Villarreal U19)
    Eder Arreola (Shirak)
    Alec Becker (Freiburg U19)
    Omar Castro (Eintracht Braunschweig II)
    Bartosz Dziedzic (Rot-Weiss Erfurt U19)
    Sidney Friede (Hertha Berlin U19)
    Bryan Gaul (Bahlinger SC)
    Duane Holmes (Huddersfield Town)
    Emerson Hyndman (Fulham)
    Jerome Kiesewetter (Stuttgart II)
    Irvin Parra (Kaiserslautern II)
    Stephen Rudderham (Magdeburg U19)
    Kris Scott (Nuneaton Town)
    Devann Yao (Berliner AK)

    Aris Briggs (Osnabrück II)
    Danijal Brković (Olimpic)
Bryan de la Fuente (Ararat Yerevan)
    Junior Ebot-Etchi (Wolfsburg II)
    Robbie Kristo (Spezia)
    Mario Rodriguez (Borussia Mönchengladbach II)
    Charlie Rugg (Eintracht Trier)
    David Spies (Augsburg II)
    Eugene Starikov (Chornomorets Odesa)
    Matt Taylor (Saarbrücken)
    Gustavo Villalobos (Pembroke Athleta)

    EDIT:

    A few more:

    Paul Rachubka (Bolton Wanderers)
    Brede Hangeland (Crystal Palace)
    Derrick Williams (Bristol City)
    Jamie Reid (Exeter City)

This is good. Maybe I'll keep free agents out of the next version of the list, leaving it only to moves that are either confirmed or reported.

No, I think it's useful to know who is quietly departing. It also gives other posters leads to help them find news bulletins in obscure German newspapers. They aren't as good as the Glengarry leads, but they are enough to set up a gazillion Google News bulletins, or whatever it is that people do. :)

Someone refresh Sevastopol for me again. I need to remember those Morser-Karl stats. How big were those shells again?

And were they bigger bombshells than Julian Green playing professional minutes in the Bundesliga? ;)

It's hard to tell how Green's shot are measured in TNT. By my estimates, there ain't much explosion there. He's a light dude and, unlike someone like Coutinho or Messi, doesn't get much oomph behind his shots.

The US really has no hard shooters and, in general, I am kind of amazed how many FK takers will just try to bend it from 30 yards. At that distance, the GK has enough time to yawn and wait until the ball drops into his arms, even if it is on target. In the old days and with the old heavier ball like Telstar, most FK shots were for power. The heavier weight made it easier to keep the flight trajectory flat too. Also, one had to strike the ball above its equator.

The last few specialists I recall who could really power it were Roberto Carlos, Michael Tarnat and Michael Ballack. The first two were lefties who hit it with the outside of the foot. RC scored a doozie vs. Fabian Barthez/France at the 1997 Confederation Cup while Tarnat scored one for Man City against Brad Friedel. Those two hit it so hard, even a slight trajectory change left the GK flatfooted. Ballack went for pure power with his instep against Austria at the 1998 Euros. The kick traveled at 74 mph (110 kmh). From 20 yards away, the ball hit the net before the Austrian GK had time to move his head. For someone like Green, on the other hand, it would be wiser to try and bounce the ball 2-3 yards in front of the GK and hope for a spill. Anything hit at his pace and high - and he hit them high vs. Puerto Rico - is usually held with ease.

As to the WWII siege guns - Karl-Gerät had a 2-ton 60cm shell. Schwerer Gustav, that actually went to Sevastopol, had an 80cm armor piercing 7.1 ton shell. Karl, seven units built in total, was a 8-10 km range/high trajectory mortar. Gustav/Dora, as the names imply, had only two units built and could fire up to 40km in distance. The Germans also had a 38cm Racketenwerfer 61 345kg rocket (basically, a 250kg flying bomb + a 45kg worth of propellant) but it was only used on the re-hauled Tiger 1 chassis as Sturmmörser.

Just gonna start taking a crack at tracking down some additional info on some of these guys. First one I think is debunkable is Barbir. He signed his pro contract at the end of last season so I would think it's unlikely it was only a 1-year deal: http://sbisoccer.com/2015/04/defender-barbir-signs

Re: Akale, Babir, etc. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if their deals were two years or less. If you think about it, signing any youth international player to longer than that could be a huge risk for the club. I only heard rumors of the $$ with Akale's deal not length.

It's because none of our players have developed any form of elite technique. That's why it's so important for players like Pulisic, Gedion, Akale, Carleton to pan out.... they have the potential for elite level technique.

Agree -- can we please try to keep this to posting official or reported moves, and keep the discussion to the player threads?

    Thanks.

It seems sensible to list free agent players after they are linked somewhere.
