That's a completely different argument than saying Osorio (or Herrera, or Chepo or Aguirre or whomever) told the players to slow down and do the complete opposite of what they were doing in the first half. It's as if people think Mexico has a divine right to dominate for 90 minutes and win every game, as if the other team is just there to stroll around.
The most entertaining game of the tournament so far. Some ugly mistakes and missteps from Mexico but this is the type of game where the Mexican team of 10 years ago probably would have let another goal in or settled for the draw. This crop of players seems more resilient and they just beat a top 10 team in a major tournament. Also, Osorio's offensive subs have been on point. Chucky came up big and Jímenez delivered two clutch assists. The second one was a beauty and not as easy as he made it a seem. Great result for Mexico.
Leverkusen's Twitters were all about Mexico and Cheech tonight. Let's gooooo! 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽 https://t.co/myTIdziFXh— Bayer 04 Leverkusen (@bayer04_en) June 5, 2016
Me gustó un chingo la inclusión de chucky en el partido, tenemos una variante más en la banca, chicharito me sigue sin convencer.
Azteca gonna get vetted for sure after this tournament though. Not that i mind, I think our Euro base looks sluggish there now.
Pinches llorones.
They definitely started getting nervous. Instead of trying to pass out if the pressure they resorted to pelotazo. Team fell apart when Aquino left. Guardado I felt showed signs of fatigue after some crap passes but his red ended up helping. The promising sign I saw was the response, this never felt like holland.
Lol. Saw a stat right now. This game had 4 goals in it. The entire tournament up til now has had 4 goals. Leave it to us to provide entertainment, all the other teams are just filler.
Viva Mexico Putos! LMFAO @ my wife is butt hurt. Mexico should have ran them over being a man up, but ******** it 3 points I'll take it.
Admittedly I could have been clearer and my point wasn't well explained but you were the one that took it in that direction. I was curious as to what Osorio's tactics were after halftime. From the fan point of view it looked like he wanted to pass the ball around and control possession, find a goal if it didn't mean compromising the lead but worry more about the lead. Without asking them personally it's hard to tell how much of that was the coaches or how much was the players.

Osorio was asked if he instructed the players to sit back at the start of the second half and he responded that no coach ever tells his players to purposefully sit back and credited Uruguay for their reaction. Guardado was asked the same question and nearly laughed. He said that Uruguay dug deep and forced themselves back into the game and that the players need to do a better job of controlling those situations when they have a lead. The post game interviews will be floating around here by tomorrow I think so we can analyze them in more detail.
I don't think Araujo connected on any of his long passes all night. He killed a good 4 - 5 possessions with his ill-advised long balls. Not sure what got into him as he's not that kind of player, however, he did well defensively. It was a given that Uruguay was going to go on a furious surge as good teams do when down a man, but that was still a shameful start to the second half IMO. We had a knife at their throat but didn't go in for the kill. While I don't believe Osorio urged players to take it easy, I do think Mexico was far too complacent with the lead and had trouble regaining momentum once they realized shit got real. That sort of complacency normally doesn't harm us during friendly's vs. lowly Centry teams, but even without Suarez, Uruguay is still equal in talent. Like many others, I don't agree with some of Osorio's tactics, but I feel a hell of a lot more confident with his early success than I did with serendipitous overachievers like Chepo and Piojo.
