If you fly too close to the sun, the sun will buy up/ lure away out of contract players with ungodly amounts of cash.

    I seen it.

Not sure if club officially confirmed yet BVB sign 18 year old Ousmane Dembele. Very similar player to Christian.

I'm hoping that the reasoning behind signing Dembele is because either Reus or Mkhitaryan is leaving this summer. Otherwise, this might not be good for CP.

The reasoning is that he's a HELL of a player and when you get the opportunity to sign a guy like that you do it. Lot in flux with BVB right now - Miki and Gundogan locked in negotiations and who knows what happens with Auba and Reus. Would be idiotic not to sign this guy if you have the opportunity and funds regardless of whether or not they lose a few of the current squad members.

Pulisic got minutes this year on a team with Reus, Gundogan, Abameyang, and Mkhitaryan. I'm not sure why adding some more talent to the team should have us believe he will lose minutes.

Yeah - I'm not sure why some posters on here get freaked out about clubs bringing in talent. They're going to need a full stable if they are hoping to compete with Bayern in the Bundes and make a run in Champions League. They shouldn't be expected to "clear the way" for Christian to be a full-time starter next season.

yeah to be honest I don't view dembele as a replacement for CP. Think of it more like reloading. This gives BVB more flexibility if a guy like Marco Reus wants to leave. It puts them in a better position to replace departing talent because the replacements have already been in the system. BUT it also gives them more leverage in contract negotiations. If a player makes excess demands they can literally just sell him and invest it back into the club.

It's v good business and it's actually a good sign for CP.

Because there are only so many minutes to go around for attacking players. He'll have to earn them in a loaded attack. Fun challenge.

BVB is a top class club, and are going to buy top class players to compete against other top class teams in Germany and the UCL. Bayern have some tremendously impressive young attacking midfielders, but that didn't stop them from going after Sanches. It's just what top class teams do.

I'm fairly sure BVB plan their squad with Pullisic in mind. Dembele is a great prospect who can add to BVB without crowding out Pullisic; sure, he'll probably be the first winger off the bench as opposed to Christian, but if CP can continue to impress, he'll find playing time anyways.

Exactly, and Dortmund is building for the future. Christian is a big part of that future. Dortmund is also preparing for the possibility that Reus and/or Henrik get bought in the near future.

Also, I think Pulisic will take more minutes in the attacking midfield spot. Dembele is more of an out and out winger, so that's really the only spot he could occupy. Pulisic is the more versatile of the two.

I was under the impression Dembele is a CAM mostly.

He plays out left, centrally and out right. Similar the Pulisic actually but a bit more versatile at least going by his time at Rennes. Spent more time centrally and out right than on the left.

I don't see the concern. There's room and the ability for both fit into the lineup.

This is also life at a top 10 club and one who can challenge for the final rounds of UCL next year.

Pulisic is 17 and versatile. Dortmund isn't lacking for games either. Odds are they plan for Dembele and Pulisic to be part of their midfield for the next 10 years eventually. Dembele-Weigl-Pulisic is one of the better young core midfields in Europe, IMO.

They will lose at least one attacking player this year, so there will be opportunity.

No Christian Pulisic for the match this weekend:

    http://www.derwesten.de/sport/fussb...pulisic-ins-spiel-gegen-koeln-id11823407.html
BVB goes without Passlack and Pulisic in the game against Köln.

    Key piece translated:

And then there are two players on the BVB who voluntarily surrendered: "We have decided to leave the two A-juniors in the A-youth", says Tuchel. Because for Borussia Dortmund the return match in the semifinals of the U19 German championship - at TSV 1860 München is on Whit Monday instead. After the 1: 2 defeat in the first leg Dortmund are under pressure and can make good use of their two top players. In the game the pros against Cologne it goes for both teams in tabular form to nothing - accordingly may Tuchel allow waiving easy.

We need a deep bench to compete vs Bayern...you all need to chillax on the transfers.

That's so weird. He ordered his own fanboy kit with his own name on it! This generation is so self-involved.
