I know it's $$$! (£££! ) but at the end of the day. Look how valuable a pair of Chrome/Lime Green Vapors are. Not because they a beautiful boot. But because Nike weren't dropping 'limited' boots every time they want to make some extra $ and all they are doing is sticking a collar on a paint job. At least do what Adidas did and try and get them as close to the original as possible. Remember, and I know it was super limited but this is the 2nd time the silver & blue colour has been re-released - it just seems to be turning into a farce. appleCORR
I'm quite torn on this as I have always cherished the original 98 boots. Due to the lack of pairs available for purchase and the little use of the colour scheme, it has added to its mythical status. In terms of the homages (2013s MVXV and this years Superfly Heritage) I believe that although they are great ideas, something still does seem to be missing from both pairs. The original 'maize' yellow being replaced by the volt, the lack of stitching and the leather-like material also left much to be desired. I always think that if I were to have a job at Nike I would do a complete remaster using lush leather materials and have it as IDENTICAL to the original as possible, much like what Jordan are doing this year with their classics. If I were at adidas, I would do remasters of all oh their heritage boots, with focuses on key moments like Beckhams free kick against Greece in the White Precisions, Zidanes WC98 Accelerators etc. I wouldn't mind if they were priced at the £300 mark if they came in a nice boot bag and box, used premium k-leather and came with a small book about their history and lore. Again, this is much welcomed (I myself have bought 6 pairs no less of the OG colourways in AG and FG) but if they were to do it 'right' they could have my first born son! Sorry for the rant!
Would have been nicer even if they did it as a tech craft version or a full leather vapor as opposed to a superfly.
It appears that it sold out fast....I feel like Nike is turning people into sheep. This is release stinks of a money grab.
Most end up on Ebay any way. Nike (and other brands) know how to milk it and as long as people are buying, then they will continue with their limited, special packs and other gimmicks they releases.
Apparently those were a limited edition Edgar David's colourway - but there was never anything on the shoe or in the box to prove it. I remember because those were my first every pair of Vapors and that's what they were being advertised as. Then I picked up a pair of Chrome/Lime limited edition for RRP of around £90 - £100 from what I can remember. Ah, the good old days! Imagine how much they would be now if they came out. appleCORR
All I've ever wanted in life was a pair of the original chrome vapor I. No lime, no R9 teal blue, just white, black, and the most reflective chrome you've ever seen.
I had those - they were really nice boots. They were a bit too big for me so I gave them to a friend (which I regret a bit now) but that's when Nike made great quality boots from the upper to the insole and they were £90. They didn't release loads of colours just 4 in say 2 years and that was it. You knew you're boot would last. appleCORR
yea, but i suspect the new NikeID way that they did with the R9 Mercurials seem to be the way to go, especially as they're cutting out middlemen. no reselling (so more people win) and you probably won't run out of size for awhile.
I think there will still be reselling of these for a few reasons. Mainly, there will some resellers that are selling on to markets which don't currently offer Nike ID. I do however believe that there will be a lot less resellers of this boot due to not having the product in hand ready to sell on instantly to pay back any credit cards used to finance the purchase. Most resellers of late seem to be kids trying to make a quick buck. When they cannot sell within a few days, they get rid for either a super low margin or get the item refunded. This boot will pay off for those resellers willing to take the hit and sit on them for a month or two. My 2 cents!
I don't quite understand why Nike just haven't re-done the paintwork with the HVs and made them into the next gen of HV. It's such a big change to the shoe you think they would have made the most of it ££ wise. I was never a fan of that upper I found it took too long to break in and soften up. So I hope they have made a few changes to it this time around because I love the current HVs even though its not a very popular boot on here. appleCORR
Whatttt? I absolutely loved the upper. The only thing I had against the HV 1 was the bit rigid sole plate which I know had issues with too.
