Indeed. A number of reliable outlets have reported it as well.
By the way, according to some journos, Arsenal decided to move fast on this deal since MCFC and Pep were expressing interest for the player.

We have all moaned not getting Xavi Alonso a few years ago. I would say that Xhaka may be the closest thing to the spaniard. He has the technique, passing range, the positioning and tactical intelligence and imo, he is more powerful and a better header of the ball.
Since the rumors started, I taped a few of BM games this year and watched him again. The dude, from his CM/DLP position basically runs the team. I specially like his forward passing mentality. He is a top player.

Things change. The league is awash with money. United pic 27m pounds for MS.

If Arsene wants to finally get out the check book again, I won't chide him for overpaying a little.

Need something. We will be without him for basically all of next season. I'm sure Arsene will just say "we have iWobi, Ramsey, Campbell, Sanchez, etc". At least it's happened now and not early next season so maybe the boss will actually get to shopping.

Don't exactly love Ibra as a person, but I'd take that in a minute. But I doubt the player is going to be talking 1-year contracts.

Indeed.... Would be great to have him. Gutted for DW though. What an unlucky guy!

Can't have both unless players are sold, and really don't want Ibra. It's a question of when he falls off a cliff, will need at least a two year deal at at least 15million/year.

Really want Arsenal to go all in for Dembele though.

i want Zlatan for personal reasons. One of my favorite players of that era.

Id rather have Dembele, but he wants to goto Dortmund.

Rennes coach Rolland Courbis: “A €35million offer for Ousmane Dembele? That would be only the first part of the transfer fee!”

Given that, will Dortmund pony up ?

I'm kind of surprised by the numbers being thrown around. Wasn't there a really low buyout?

That's good to hear; now all they need is a replacement for Mert, a winger and another striker.

I'd be wary of their defensive capabilities and the team's width, depending on other signings. It certainly wouldn't be s***, but I'm not sure that midfield is going to, say, beat Barca in the round of 16.

A midfield doesnt beat any team. You need more than just a midfield. You need to score goals too and defend.

But that midfield is strong as fack on paper. Mostly because it frees Ramsey from being involved in the first phase, and allows him to get involved further up where he is a great player. Also Jack is a great ball carrier.

Lastly, we dont need Ozil dropping back to collect the ball anymore. Really, none of our attackers will have too. WE can also play real counter attacking football as Xhaka gets the ball forward quick.

We still need a wide attacker, and a CF but that midfield, on paper, is teh strongest we've had since 2007/08.

(I also meant best midfield in the league, my apologies)

It's too many bodies in the midfield, and while it can beat a press, I'm not sure that I trust Ramsey and Wilshere to press effectively. It's great against the likes of Tottenham, that like to press high and play relatively narrow. But it's silly against teams that sit on the edge of their 18.

I like the signing for the mix and match options we have when everyone is healthy.

I also want to see Arsenal play a 4-6-0 in one game, with a midfield of:
    Xhaka - Ramsey - Cazorla
    Ox Wilshere
    Ozil

We can call it the "Everton formation"

LOL... When I first read that I thought that said "place!"

Okay, I'll give it a thumb's up. But Jack's gotta stay on the pitch and not pick up any stupid cards.

To me now you can play Xhaka at the base of every midfield. Whether you put Ramsey,Wilshere,El Neny, all of them work IMO. Moreso Ramsey or Wilshere because they provide a better attack.

If you go with that line up and 2 strikers does that allow Sanchez to work better?

Ditto for Xhaka. He's gotten three reds this season.
