I'm glad the wider soccer world is getting over the obsession with possession. Makes for a much better game.
So? Orlando had that good run against the West early on last year. I was mentioning elsewhere how making total wins the first tiebreaker was BS. In fact, I think not having GD as the first tiebreaker anywhere for soccer/football is BS. (That includes the European leagues that do it.) But having total wins first is a bigger cop-out than H2H record. If Orlando had won, they'd have a superior GD to Philly and Montreal. But we would've been third on total wins. Nice to see someone quantify that. And how do the Metros have that bad a GD that early?
She's one crazy ass bitch. But she's the best goalkeeper USWNT has ever had. The 2008 gold medal game in Beijing cemented her legacy. Off the pitch...... .
Just to follow up on the "ARRRGH Kevin Doyle was CLEARLY offside why do the refs suck so bad" issue... OK, here's the img, sorry - meant to have it 1st time@orphord @blueeyedbuddha @gingerheadman13 @bedirthan @TotalMLS pic.twitter.com/MliaTbrHvg— SoccerPhotogrammetry AKA "A Nice Gentleman" (@OffsideModeling) April 25, 2016 Offside by less than a foot. People are bad at mentally rotating camera angles.
In real time, I would've thought that was on. On review, I'd chalk that up to the kind of call that might be made half the time. This is the kind of thing that might get put under the instant replay umbrella if it comes. (For the record, I am not calling for instant replay, only goal-line tech.)
Doing some homework today, Larin was offside before Ouimette tackled him on the breakaway. #NYvORL #MLS pic.twitter.com/eXj3SuzSHh— Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) April 25, 2016
The ball has not yet left Bendik's foot, and the Ouimette is moving back but Larin isn't moving. On top of that, the camera is at an angle, not directly across the field. He may well be offside, but that picture doesn't prove it.
Yes, Ouimette is clearly about to move one yard faster than Bendik's swinging foot will move one inch. There's always someone out there to try to justify any possible claim, isn't there?
The fair point about Twellman's tweet is that a red card issued for a play that should have never occurred would have been a travesty.
Yeah, seriously. All my points are true. Larin is inches from being onside if you look at Ouimette's hand, which is clearly moving back at the time. Yes, a fraction of second would make Larin onside, if he isn't onside in this pic already. The feet make it appear less close than it is.
Seriously? Being a fraction offside is more significant than scissoring a player at the edge of the box? Interesting.
If you drop an expletive toward a ref and he gives you a yellow card, the yellow card should be a simple hint not to use another expletive toward the ref. Evans was his own worse enemy on that one. No sympathy.
