Austria is a good little. upcoming team that's going to make it into the Euro's. They play a highly geared attacking game with it's configuration that goes 4-1-2-3/ They got several quality players that fine their craft in the German Bundesliga. Most notable, fwds Brilla & Burger are usauly top ten BUND scorers. Their one fb, gets great laurels at Balern Munich. Nut my fav player is the physical presence(and quite attractive)AM, Sarah Puntigam
Austria only weakness is that their probably not well balanced(their gk is the backup in Munich, but so far has seen zero action). But we'll see when they take on the big boys(or big girls) like Norway this Sunday(keeping my fingers crossed if it's streamlined as well!)

btw..............Poland is hanging in there, tied with Denmark for 2nd (but the Dames lead on goal difference) Can Poland still make if they end up 3rd in their group?

    No.

"The eight group winners and the six best runners-up then advance to the final tournament, while the other two runners-up go to a play-off from 17–25 October 2016."

Should France win their next two games against Romania and Ukraine, they will be through to the Euros, despite a poor campaign in term of quality shown.

France became so boring lately so I preferred to watch England vs Belgium mainly to see how the Belgians has progressed as I predicted some years ago that Western European countries with considerable football knowledge/culture will raise up on the international scene faster that many thought..... Spain and Netherlands are among the favorites at Euro 2017 so I was kinda right.....Anyway, Belgium didn't disappointed me I really appreciated their performance, they had a clear game plan which consisted in not giving their opponent space , helping each other defensively and attacking the space once winning the ball back with a maximum of two touch before passing the ball. I know Bardsley helped them with that shocking error (I still wonder how that happened:eek:) but overall the Red Flames had the control of the game and if they didn't faded in the second half, sitting too deep, they certainly would have won it.
England was very bad in the first half, slow, no movement with or without the ball , no inspiration, nobody to take an initiative .....I don't know if Sampson tactics were disrupted by Belgium early lead, I don't think so, but he definitely manage to change the course of the game by introducing Davison, Aluko and mostly Carney who by their enthusiasm and directness were hard to handle for Wullaert and co. The group now is really interesting Belgium 8 points, England and Serbia 7 and Bosnia 6 with the Lionesses still have to play Belgium, Bosnia and Serbia away and Serbia home...... For the individuals, Janice Cayman, did a great work on her flank, Aline Zeller , w.o.m, was superb in her now role (from cf to cb) but its the new generation which really positively surprised me, I don't follow Bene league closely so I barely knew them but ....well Wullaert of course not.....18 y.o goalie Justien Odeurs, 18 y.o cm Tine De Caigny and 21 y.o cm Julie Biesmans (very smart, tidy player, really like her) made a big impression, playing with superb confidence against the 4th team in the world.....and actually dominating the midfield....the Red Flames are to be going on the right direction:thumbsup:.

ps: something strange happened during the game, the referee called an England offside from a throw:eek::confused::cry::ninja:....I know female soccer referees are bad but this is too much...

Considering England v Belgium match....a few things as well:

    1. That FIFA 4th rank England is holding now - it's a joke?... right?
    2. It would seem that only 1:0 vs Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of last year it wasn't just bad day at the Sampson&Co. office. ;)
    3. In yesterday match from around 70-75th min, 3rd team of last WWC - England simply run out of ideas and started to play only long ball into PK of 28th ranked Belgium in hope that "smth might happen". o_O
    4. Almost year after WWC - no developement to be seen - Lionesess are starting to look like paper tigers. :whistling:

Hmmm, yeah, there's a lot of things I won't say, but the England wnt coach has become a rather annoying personality in his growing sense of entitlement... 3rd at the world cup, 3rd at the world cup, 3rd at the world cup, and yet it won't be a shock for the more rational minds to see them knocked out the Euro's early...

do you got a full game replay of this match?

    a few notes;

a rather shitty goal left in by Bardsley. It's unfortunately going to be shown all over youtube and made fun by non fans of woso with comments like 'girls shouldn't play soccer'

give the English credit for playing at least to a sell out home crowd. This kind of enthusiasm for a woso game is sadly missing in most other countries.

Belgium has two solid forwards in Wulleart & Caymen. Last year, didn't they beat Poland something like 5-0 in a friendly?

Sampson is one of the few coaches that tries to experiment every game with a new lineup & configuration, so things aren't going to always go so smoothly. In this one he didn't even play argueably his best, Lucy Bronze. He also started 5 Man City & 4 Arsenal players, yet only one from the current league champs, Chelsea. He's giving only spare change(playing time) to Gemma Davison(last year's league mvp?) and has yet to go with Beth Mead(who outscored everybody in the league by at least by 5 goals).
Unlike some of the NT's that it's the same old, same old(France definitely comes to mind!), at least with Sampson, it's something different/ or life is a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get...........

The question is has Bardsley French ancestors or was this her try at a Manuel Neuer impression?

In Group 3 France will qualify with a win against Ukraine on Monday and Germany will qualify in group 5 with a draw against Croatia.

Regarding Bardsley, well the manager still plays her despite costing 42% of the goals conceded by England at the World Cup 2015 and a good percentage as well at Euro 2013.

Germany won't be able to qualify on Monday because Russia could still overtake them.
Germany win against Croatia -> 18 points
Russia currently sitting at 4 points with 5 matches left -> could reach 19 points

Meh, get over it, all GK's make fatal errors.

France's GK does it all the time with little back lash, with Germany's keeper just recently showcasing her always costly issue with narcolepsy, by allowing a routine pass back to go in underneath her body vs the USA too.

It wasn't a simple high ball sailing over the English GK's head, she just missed her kick in a area of the field all GK's tend to look stupid at some point in time.
Really..., we'll see how long that supposed freshness lasts when England are expected to be more than the undaunted underdog's for a change.

The likes of France are constantly facing teams who bunker hoping for the best via rare counter attacks and free kicks; England come up against that style once vs a rising Belgium side, and they just appeared perplexed telling everybody they came 3rd at the world wasn't working anymore.

Looking at the information about that game, for all of England's talk of having a bad night, it took a basic long ball and fighting for the percentages to see them get anything from a game Belgium created the better chances, and could have scored more than the major gifted GK error.

@Lechus7 , This is what I was debating with Hotjam2 , and I was accused to be a "snob" French...., let's make things clear Sampson is clearly doing a better job than Hopelesss mostly because he called the BEST English player stupidly banned or ignored by his predecessor and the result are there to show he was right . But what we are talking here is the way those results came and if England could be considered among the top nations.....
Those who saw the game yesterday will all tell you the same thing , the Lionesses were outplayed at home in front of their supporters by a young Belgium team with 18 y.o De Caigny and 21 y.o Biesmans dominating players way older and supposedly better than them......according to Sampson, Jill Scott is among the very best worldwide at her position:confused:......The Red Flames did so well because they knew what to do, they knew how to defend efficiently , how to build game plays from the back, how to avoid England's pressing , how their offense should move to find themselves constantly available for a pass.....Tessa Wullaert movement without the ball was so good yesterday. I had an argue with Hotjam2 because of it......everything Belgium did as a team England couldn't, the Lionesses came back only because the Red Flames physically faded and England had substitute who raise up the rhythm of the game. Their problem is not WHO play (they got many excellent players...some overrated but overall the team is good on paper) but HOW to play , when facing "real" top nations (USA, Germany, France, Japan) they had a very defensive approach letting their opponent the ball possession on purpose....their fans were "happy" with that because Houghton and Co obtain some results which they could only dream of some years ago......but many non Brits were already questioning themselves on this team real strength because they way they obtained results can't be considered these of a top nations.....We have seen yesterday that when it comes to actually build up plays, make the ball travel from your defense to the offense, get players involve with or without the ball etc.... the Lionesses still have to learn .

ps: as I said it once , despite all her mistakes Bouhaddi still among the very best goalie worldwide and her blunders rarely coast France a goal...at least directly.

What an incredible disappointment for Hungary. They would have likely made the top 2 if they hadn't conceded twice in the last 5 minutes. Now Russia will likely make it but will probably be in the playoff. Would have been nice to see the Magyars go through, it was really 50:50 from the beginning. However if Russia fail to beat Croatia, Hungary still have a chance.

The big winners of the day are Denmark and they didn't even play.
