Looking good for the U17 so far, being up 4-1 after 50 minutes. Goals by Dadachov, Maier and 2x Baxmann
0-0 vs France. I know that Skenderovic is playing a tournament in the U.S with Hoffenheim U-19, don't know whats the matter with the others. Interesting: Enis Bytyqi, suspended in Frankfurt, is in the squad, he was a starter vs. France
Enis Bytyqi plays for Werder (not Frankfurt) and is a '97 so he is not eligible to play for Germany U18s. Enis Bunjaki, who has been suspended by Frankfurt, is also a '97 and can't play for Germany U18s.
Ups, of course, mixed it up. But also dfb.de: http://www.dfb.de/u-18-junioren/spiele-termine/spiele/?spieledb_path=/matches/2229443
The guys from dfb.de must have made a mistake. The only strikers in this squad are Daferner and Mause.
Die DFB U18 spielt 0-0 gegen Frankreich. Johannes Eggestein kam wohl 90 Minuten zum Einsatz, dfb.de nennt ihn aber "Enis Bytyqi" #Werder— worum.org (@worum_org) March 24, 2016
The actual Enis Bytyqi played and scored in Werder II's 3-0 vs FC Groningen today. http://www.kreiszeitung.de/werder-bremen/werder-bremen-yildirim-traumtor-beim-comeback-6252793.html
Major change is abolishing the U19. A jugend only with U17 and U18 yos eligible. Corresponding changes all the way down to d jugend. Change to be implemented from 2017/2018 onwards. that has also implications on highest/lowest leagues in those age groups
Thanks! Do you know the reasoning behind this? The best talents at that age play already in the first team, but that's only a few. There are a lot of players that don't make that jump. I guess the U23 teams would become more relevant again as a place where players at that age can develop if they are not ready for the first team?
Can't say that I'm a big fan of this movement right now. Sounds like they want a quicker cycle process of players through the youth system. Which I can see many players who will end up getting lost in the transition. IMO, the current structure of having 2nd year of eligibility to play in the U19 tier is important for those who are later bloomers and need the extra time. Additionally this affects youngsters who miss considerable time due to injuries. Reserve/U23 teams haven't been necessarily all that nurturing of an environment in recent years. There's also clubs like Leverkusen, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bochum, etc who don't even incorporate the U23 level anymore.
The U21s are good but they could have used a tougher EM qualification group. Here's how the standings look like after win against Faroe Islands yesterday. Next up are the Russians on March 29. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_UEFA_European_Under-21_Championship_qualification
In the match vs Bulgaria so far it doesn't go that well for the U17 Red card for Amade, Bulgaria score from the penalty spot. So after 30 minutes the U17 is down one man and Bulgaria leads 1-0
Schreck equalized for the U17, the match finishes with a 1-1 draw. Holland won 2-0 vs Slovakia, so a draw in the last match vs Holland should be enough for the U17 to qualify
Meanwhile, the U19s are currently leading 2-1 vs South Korea. The opponents took an early lead, but Ochs ties it just before half time. Teuchert just scored to go ahead by one.
Looking at the other groups a draw would definively be enough for the U17, even if Bulgaria were to beat Slovakia by more than 4 goals. In that case Germany would be only 2nd in the group, but would qualify because only the worst second place in all 8 groups doesn't qualify for the Euros. Not all groups have played yet, but Spain are in second place with 5 points and a goal difference of +1, Germany would be ahead of them with a draw because of the better goal difference
Only the results against the teams placed first and third are counted for the comparison of all group's RUs. But even in this case Spain only have 2 pts and 0:0 goals, so any draw would still be fine for Germany. http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2016/standings/index.html
He deserves a second chance.
Interview with Frederic Ananou and Fabian Reese after both making their U19 debuts in the first match vs South Korea. http://www.dfb.de/news/detail/reese-und-ananou-die-tuer-zum-dfb-ist-immer-offen-142752/
U-18 wins second match against France 4-1. Man of the match was Felix Beiersdorf, RB Leipzig, with two goals and one assist. Other goals by Gül (penalty) and Daferner
