I am in the 'norf so obviously like most of the country we enthusiastically await the inevitable Pep meltdown no differently than we visit HSV and complain about their shit team and shit fans :D

    Das ist Fußball oder?

I only became interested to follow Pep's time in Bayern because I think his approach is interesting

Yeah and who's fault is it that players make those mistakes? Pep shouldn't PLAY this style if players slip up again and again. Easy to blame on players. We have such a weak backline and we still play with fire in the defense, risky passes etc and when our defender slips, it has nothing to do with Pep? Allegri totally owned Pep. They gameplan was excellent in the 1st half and basically the whole game. Bayern did not create anything special until Costa went bananas and Bayern exploited that Evra's mistake to perfection.
You can basically blame every SINGLE lost game on players if you want. "didn't mark", "made an error", "was too slow". Whatever. Get off that ********ing hype train.

    Hmm

I guess i just see that error in min 6 as a individual error not a tactical one - same as when Neuer clears the ball straight to an attacker to give him an open goal.

What I do agree with is that Juve seemed to rattle Bayern with the high press

You almost never see Neuer lose the plot like that. Usually he is ice cold.

With all that said - I do think Pep should have taken out Opa and Benatia much sooner

Vidal bossed midfield after that and Alaba is a better option in the middle.

I was meaning to ask - why did Thiago not start?

I saw he also did not play vs BvV

Did Pep lose faith in him somehow?

Oh right - many friends of mine live in Eimsbuettel!

    Where are you based now?

Hamvegas is great though increasingly unliveable like all the German boom towns

Would you believe i moved here from London in 2005 because you could get a great big apartment and life was easy and chilled? :D

Currently in Nashville, TN for now. Grew up in Chicago and lived in Hamburg off and on between H.S. and college. Nashville is currently a boom town where I'm trying to leave, but its hard to find a gig like the one I've got going here elsewhere, plus the cost of living isnt too bad.

If Juve is deploying a very high press then why insist on playing out of the back when you risk interceptions in dangerous areas?

Or what exactly is the job of a coach? Juve are pressing Neuer so you tell him to continue trying to dribble Morata and finding the difficult pass to Kimmich and Benatia?

Is this not exactly the same thing that happened vs Porto first leg last yr when Porto pressed us high and our players lost the ball in dangerous areas conceding 2 goals in the first 20mins

vs Dortmund in the CL final, Dortmund did the same thing but Juup changed it after 20mins and dropped Schweini in between the CB and skipped the whole play from the back for outright long balls to the wings which took out Dortmund press and isolated Robben with Schmelzer

    Good points

I must admit I expected Bayern to use the long ball more - as they have in other games. Though the goal came so early before there was really any structure to the game.

Kroos is having a horrible season for Madrid. I didn't want to lose him at the time (big fan of the player actually), but what would he have added?

Kroos was not the type of player that would improve Bayern. I think we have been better off without him.
