Who: New York Red Bulls v. Houston Dynamo When: Saturday, March 19 @ 6:00 pm CDT Where: Red Bull Arena; Harrison, NJ Records: NY Red Bulls (0-2-0), 10th in East Houston Dynamo (1-0-1), 3rd in West TV: ROOT Sports Southwest (alternate) Radio: 650 am (online)/1010 am (Spanish) This is the third regular season game for the Red Bulls and Dynamo in 2016. Houston defeated NYR in the only game between the teams last year, 4-2, here in Texas in June. The last time the Dynamo went up there was a 1-0 win for the Red Bulls in October of 2014. This will be the only regular season meeting. NYR has started off the 2016 season with 2 losses: one at home to Toronto (0-2) and most recently one on the road at Montreal (3-0). The Red Bulls have yet to score and have allowed 5 goals in those two games. After the Dynamo game, the Red Bulls take the international break and then go to New England on April 1. The next game for the Dynamo is on the road at the Vancouver Whitecaps on March 26. After that game the Dynamo have a bye week before returning home on April 10 to host Seattle.
Dynamo @ Red Bulls, all-time: 06/10/06 NYR 1-1 HOU 04/21/07 NYR 1-0 HOU 08/24/08 NYR 3-0 HOU 11/01/08 NYR 1-1 HOU, playoffs 05/16/09 NYR 1-1 HOU 06/02/10 NYR 2-1 HOU 04/02/11 NYR 1-1 HOU 05/09/12 NYR 1-0 HOU 08/10/12 NYR 2-0 HOU 06/30/13 NYR 2-0 HOU 11/06/13 NYR 1-2 HOU (a.e.t.), playoffs 04/23/14 NYR 4-0 HOU 10/04/14 NYR 1-0 HOU That's 1-8-4 with 7 goals scored and 21 allowed. This is one of the toughest away games for the Dynamo with only 1 win in 13 games and only .54 goals per game. The only ones worse are Seattle, Montreal, and Vancouver where the Dynamo have never won. This will be our 27th game against New York all-time. That is 3rd most trailing only Kansas City and Dallas. Later this year Houston will play DC United for the 27th time as well. But the three games against the Galaxy this season will push LA into 3rd with 28 games by the end of the year. Current games played in all competitions list: 1. Kansas City - 31 (+2 more this year at least) 2. Dallas - 30 (+2) 3. NY Red Bulls - 26 (+1) 4. DC United - 26 (+1) 5. LA Galaxy - 25 (+3) 6. New England - 25 (+1) 7. Colorado - 24 (+2) 8. Chivas USA - 23 9. Salt Lake - 20 (+3)
I should have put this in the original post. The Dynamo are on an 8 game winless streak on the road. That goes back to the win at San Jose on July 10, 2015. Houston is 0-6-2 in that span in league games with a -13 goal difference. We also have a 3-1 Open Cup loss at Kansas City in that period. On the other hand, the Dynamo only have 1 loss in the last 12 home games, 8-1-3. 14 if you count the Open Cup.
By the way, I guess I should ask who the B.E.A.R. squad members are. Surely you'll vault all the posts on here that do nothing but praise Bruin when he's not done well or had a horrible match. I can't wait to see all the posts that were nothing but rah-rah for Bruin without any discussion of his play and the facts to back it up.
Look, I think Bruin has played well to his own strengths. He is winning more physical battles in possession and he has assists and a goal. He deserves to play in the system until he has a bad performance. A bear dressed up in lipstick is still just a bear. We may want to watch a Drogba but give him credit for contributing to our success so far. If we continue to play a 4231 then he may be the best on the team for that role. He has to wrestle a lot with center backs and That ain't Cubo's forte. Manotas on the other hand is slippery and wiry and seems to win more aerial duels than you would expect. Bruin has limitations and strengths and right now the strengths are making up to the limitations.
i don't know if it's been said yet this year, but thank you again for putting all this together every week and getting these threads started
+1. To be honest, when I first checked back on this forum, I was like "if newtex ain't there anymore, I'm done." Really appreciate all the work and stats you do and keep up with.

If Coyle goes with the 4231 again then I would play Cubo in number ten role with Bru as #9 Wenger and Boni out wide Defense the same Miranda as a sub for Cubo or for an outside mid Mauro as a sub for Bru or Cubo if the get tired or if they are performing poorly first half Lovejoy bench hopefully Williams on the Bench as well
Did we ever figure out if Root SW games are blacked out on MLSLive if you're in the Houston service area?
Canetti told me a few weeks ago that it's blacked out all over Texas, Louisiana, and I think NM and Oklahoma on MLSLive. He told me they don't want it blacked out but it's Root's decision. It seems dumb we can watch FCDallas but not our own team.
I hope so. I actually built up the nerve to switch to DirecTV Tuesday night, but I called Dish first to make sure I wasn't still under any contract. After 30 minutes of begging me, I walked away staying with Dish but for 1/2 price, down from $120 to $60 for 10 months, no contract. I'll take it and go next door to watch the Dynamo.
MLS Live is a rip off and I'll never buy it again. I couldn't watch one Dynamo game live on there all last year.
"MLS LIVE is the perfect companion to your cable subscription. With MLS LIVE you can watch hundreds of out-of-market regionally televised matches not available with your cable package. It's the best way to keep track of your hometown team while you are at school or living in another state. In short, MLS LIVE makes every game a nationally televised match." "Out-of-market". MLS Live is designed for people to be able to watch other cities games. Not their own. That is what it is for. We got access beyond that for a couple of years when CSN-Houston was floundering around. That was not the norm. Dallas is not doing the blackouts because their games are only on one local tv station in DFW. KTXA-21 apparently doesn't care about the blackouts since they are not trying to get subscribers in markets outside of the Metroplex. Broadcast stations are usually carried automatically by local cable systems in the area. ROOT Sports Southwest wants to be on cable systems all over Texas and surrounding states because they are paying a lot for the Rockets and Astros games. They aren't paying a lot for the Dynamo but I guess they figure every little bit of pressure on local cable systems to carry the channel helps.
I got the same deal 2 months ago but I got it with HBO for $70 for the dish Latino max or whatever and then it goes up to 120 after the year. I was paying like $170 tho cuz I had dish everything tho
