This is the second time in two days that I have seen a headline phrased in this way - the first was yesterday on Yahoo News, and now this. Not sure why, but reading this headline is like nails on a chalkboard...
Zoning commissioner's first take on D.C. United stadium: 'This reminds me of a prison' The D.C. Zoning Commission on Monday had its first review of the plannedD.C. United stadium at Buzzard Point, and while the panel indicated its support for the project, its members did offer some reservations about the design. Commissioner Marcie Cohen, for example, described renderings of the 19,000-seat facility, submitted to the commission in January, as "very austere." "I actually looked at it and it and I thought, this reminds me of a prison, the facade," Cohen said. "I think we need to get a little bit more, maybe a little bit more friendly to the neighborhood, because if I'm looking at the facade, I wouldn't be too happy with that view." That neighborhood isn't much to look at, yet, but developers are kicking the tires on Buzzard Point more aggressively than ever before, and some are taking the leap.
Yeah, and DC already has an excellent Holocaust museum. We figured the Third Reich chic could be problematic from Day 1: now it's translated into Architecture of Doom.
This site is always eager to jump on and conduct the MLS Doom Train. This is actually a huge improvement. Trading out Seattle, who is by far the biggest draw on national tv, for San Jose who is one of the weakest and only dropping 10% is a huge success.
I thought he was a Sigi reject too - and has enjoyed routing the Sounders in CCL. I love Herculez. So often he was underrated or counted out - and he'd answer with deadly goals and irrepressable play. I love his attitude about US Soccer and MLS too. He's always looking for a chance to prove something.

He has a friendly relationship with Sounders fans. Lots of good natured banter between the two sides and Sounders fans like him quite a bit.
You could almost hear him panting with excitement as he rushed to the keyboard to report the decline.....the only thing missing was the requisite comparison to the weekly English Premier League ratings.
Add to that the opening game Cols/Portland match which the doomsayers gleefully pointed out was way down from the ESPN opener from 2015 but neglect to mention that that game was the inaugural match for both NYCFC and Orlando. A very big deal. Also, rating for MLS on Watch ESPN this year are through the roof. That same Cols/Port was the second highest rated MLS match ever on that platform. Thisisn't the NFL, MLS has a tech savvy audience that defies the 1960's Pete Rozelle model. Not that anybody at WST would notice. They'd have to get their heads out of their asses.
Are you referring to Sigi's time at the Galaxy, along with Herc? If so, Sigi was already replaced by Sampson before Herc joined. And I believe the majority of Herc's time in LA was during the Yallop tenure.
Paul Kennedy did a piece on this exact subject just a few days ago. The title of that piece "Television is only part of the new media ecosystem for MLS". It's a good read! And shows the streaming numbers are breaking records. But I'm sure that our friends over at WST would blow it off as MLS propaganda....
