Was announced last week, but today at noon there's a press conference at the Juan Ramon Loubriel. There are saying it's something big, Carmelo is flying down to be present.

Mendes is a nice signing, Don't know much about Marrero but he has scored 7 times in 18 appearances for the Puerto Rico national team apparently. Nice to see PRFC adding some national teamers.

I am not really getting what's going on with soccer in PR, I still haven't found any official site about leagues nor updated wikipedia news, why Puerto Rico did not send any team to CFU championship? What will happen now with PRFC?

Ramon Martin Del Campo Joins Puerto Rico FC On Loan

Puerto Rico Football Club announced Thursday that Ramon Martin del Campo will join the club for this upcoming season on loan from Costa Rican powerhouse Deportivo Saprissa.

Ramon can play as a center half, a right back, or as a holding midfield player. He was seen by the Puerto Rico coaching staff last November and expressed a desire to join the club back then. The clubs subsequently worked on a loan agreement that brings Del Campo to the club in time for their preseason training.

A bunch of amateur "semi-pro" teams, non of them can afford to send their squad to the CFU. Divided into two leagues that are constantly fighting for the Federation's favor. Probably NPSL level quality at best. As soon as PRFC will show interest in the CFU they will cry wolf and complain they never get the chance to participate and that the Federation has been bribed or something. The already are bitching that locals are underrepresented in PRFC, which they are but that because the better Puerto Ricans already have teams and which leaves us with a bunch of amateur inexperience players, a few may have raw talent for the NASL but are too underdeveloped.

The Puerto Rico Federation should just be incorporated into the US Federation. They are a US territory after all.

I only know of the LNF...

Anyways It would be cool to see PRFC establish an affiliation with one (or more) of the LNF clubs and create an academy system at the lower divisions to start pumping out nationals for the senior club.
