I thought Silvia Neid was not going to be coaching the German team this year? What happened, when does the switch happen?

' 0-0 Sauerbrunn awkward bicycle out of own box -- only to box top. Brian tries to settle -- too dainty, gets overrun by a red wall. Sauerbrunn hoofs to center circle. Lloyd collects completely alone, turn-and-go and drives right up centerline. Jukes Bartusiak at arc top right, shoots left instep from 12m right post -- rolls just wide right. Find your seats!

' 0-0 Engen dodges 1, but caught by Mittag's two-footed lunge-tackle. Engen pops up, straddles Mittag, gets piggy-backed. Called for a foul.

' 0-0 Germany fk at 27m box left, inswings to Marozsán's head facing away at 11m 1/3 right. Back-header flick continues wide right.

' 0-0 Germany left throw-in at 22m. Brian outlets to Lloyd in center circle, she outruns 1 up centerline. Soft pass lags behind Morgan at arc top mid-left, she touches past Maier(?) to 14m mid-left, tries to softly chip Schult but sails over.

And that's why press isn't a constant starter, she has a hard time dribbling with her head up and misses open players.

' 0-0 Germany left throw-in to(ward) Kerschowski, USA deflects it over.

' 0-0 Germany left ck, over mouth and glances off Marozsán, skitters to 1m 6-right. Marozsán collects, cross cleared?

' 0-0 Maier rolls a long ground pass up wide right, too far for Blässe.

' 0-0 USA gk, Germany crowd us with tight pressure. Decent outlet to Dunn(!) curling to circle back left, Germany put it into far touch.

' 0-0 Morgan turns through box left, chases down midleft, Peter(?) shields her off and taps it over.

' 0-0 USA left ck, back to 14m mid-left. Fizzle, USA collect in the back. Engen takes over Johnston's longball role -- perfect flight drops at 22m box right for Press bending past Kemme! Press dribbles to 14m mid-right -- cutback loses ball momentarily, quick left instep shot toward 1/3 left low but Schult smothers.

' 0-0 Krieger steals at circle right, passes forward, Germany fouls.
' 0-0 USA fk, cleared.
' 0-0 USA left throw-in(?) in own half, up left touch for Dunn running past 2. Maier pokes it out.

' 0-0 Germany right throw-in at own box top. Dunn duels on (our) left touch, wins a throw-in.
' 0-0 USA left throw-in on our left, we lose it out.
' 0-0 Germany right throw-in at own 8m. We're stuck on that far touchline. USA steal, quick inside-out pass up left touch for Morgan, poked out.

' 0-0 Morgan cross/shot from wide left, blocked high and over.
' 0-0 USA left ck, through box to 10m centerline, cleared away. Krieger wrests it away from Mittag(?). Backpass to Solo ...

That was terrible from Press after Morgan gave her a fantastic ball in. Even more egregious than being in on goal the previous time and cutting back instead of just shooting or passing. Cripes.

' 0-0 USA gk(?), Kemme heads forward to Mittag(?)'s chest, Germany ping.

' 0-0 USA steal, find Morgan wide-open at 25m wide right. Quick flick through box top right hits Press lost behind the coverage, alone to 8m mid-right. Again Press cuts back to the left foot, clangs it away, no shot -- clangs it toward Schult at 5m, chases and flicks into Schult's chest. Morgan collects at 5m wide right, square pass to Press at 3m mid-right. Again stuffed. Press struggling with the footwork ...

' 0-0 USA fk at circle left, Klingenberg sails it to box top center. S.Mewis facing away, flick back-header pops up to 8m 1/3 right. Schult plucks it away before Press can backpedal to it.

' 0-0 Maier right throw-in at arc top, back to -- who's behind Maier on the right? :p One-touch service deflects over endline right.

' 0-0 USA right ck, low to nobody at 12m mid-right. Germany collect, work up wide right, win a throw-in.

' 0-0 Blässe high chip to 14m mid-right, Sauerbrunn heads away. Germany backpass to Schult ...

' 0-0 Germany left throw-in at midfield, one ping and lost. Klingenberg hacky-sacks a hot high pass to Sauerbrunn, calm backpass to Solo. USA longball to Schult.

' 0-0 Lloyd + Dunn almost win a 2-v-1 at circle top left touch.

' 0-0 We trade turnovers at midfield.

' 0-0 USA right throw-in at own corner flag. Marozsán outruns S.Mewis to it, square pass right. Maier runs on to 32m mid-right, right foot drive bends in-then-out -- Solo dives anyways, blocks it over.

' 0-0 Germany right ck, pings around to box top right. Cross to ~spot, #17 Kerschowski soft header on-frame -- right to Solo's basket.

' 0-0 Midfield clanging, Germany hoof long. Sauerbrunn shanks her volley straight up, Mittag collects.

' 0-0 Klingenberg steals at circle back wide left, but creeps too slowly across midfield, Blässe takes it back.

' 0-0 Germany soft cross to box top mid-right, back flick header to nobody, USA clears.

' 0-0 Kemme alone down wide left to endline, collects and beats Krieger coming back through 5m box left. Sharp ground pass to Popp(?), backpass sets up Kemme continuing her run to ~8m mid-left. Hard right instep shot, wide left into side pipework as Solo dove.

No one really seems to be proving why they should be the starter of the newcomers (to the starting lineup). They all look pretty shaky.

' 0-0 Klingenberg square tap to Lloyd coming back -- one hard clang loses it. USA promptly win it back, Klingenberg passes up wide left for Dunn outrunning Maier(?) at 27m wide left. Dunn shanks a cross, way high and over endline left. Bleh.

' 0-1 Krieger tries a forward pass, intercepted by Popp. Quick tap to #17 Kerschowski at circle top mid-left, quick right outstep flick to #11 Anja Mittag at 30m mid-left. Mittag drifts rightward to 22m arc left, into a pocket of 4 defenders -- but everybody's playing lanes, nobody actually stops ball. Mittag blasts right instep low, curls perfectly just inside left post, past Solo's dive.

' 0-1 Lloyd steals off a foot at own arc top mid-right, counters to midfield wide right. Pass up wide right too far for Morgan.

' 0-1 Blässe overlaps past Klingenberg (or her absence) down box right to 3m, powers a cross to 4m right post. Bit of confusion, Engen hop-volleys over before Solo comes out that far.

' 0-1 Germany ping around at midfield ...

' 0-1 Behringer cheeky backheel to box top left, Klingenberg steals. Dainty footwork, inside-out pass try into space -- into Behringer's shins, bounces back to box top (their) right. Quick shot deflects over.

' 0-1 Germany right ck, but they foul.

' 1-1 Klingenberg shield-and-turns away from Blässe, chips from midfield box left high to 22m mid-left. Morgan spin-and-sheds Peter(?), chases bouncing ball to 7m 6-left. Left foot high cutback dink beats Schult's hands, right roundhouse volley  into back left low hard. Then trips and does a Fosbury over Schult's torso, but no harm. She read that article too :D

' 1-1 USA right throw-in at box top, to Krieger backshielding at 6m mid-right, clanged away.

' 1-1 Klingenberg left throw-in at circle top, Germany steals.

' 1-1 Germany right throw-in at midfield. Calm passing splits Mewis/Brian right between their shins. Lloyd fouls Marozsán down at 27m center.
