Bruin was better in the 2nd half than in the 1st half when he was awful. The sequence around the assist was well done. The header across goal, ditto. He had 2-3 good passes. Go back and watch the replay though on the number of times he coughed up possession too easily, missed a pass, or worse yet, got the ball caught under his feet when dribbling (I thought he'd gotten over that). My U-10 players can dribble without getting the ball caught under their feet. One 2nd half sequence summed him up, he picks up the ball and then defender has to do nothing at all because Bruin starts dribbling but leaves the ball behind. For a professional soccer player making close to DP money, that was pathetic. On 2nd goal, not excusing Anibaba but the goal was Beasley's fault. Had he held his line, Davies is offsides. Beasley was well behind Horst and RR, though. Poor positioning.
We're stuck with them now so let's hope they produce while still here. Glad to see Mauro get some time.
That's the mentality that has us here though. There's a thing called the "bench" and on that "bench" today was Cubo, Manotas, Agus, Boniek, Miranda. What's the point of having depth if you ain't going to use it.
While on one level I agree with you, but I don't think think this is the match to say it. Both were poor in the first half, but Barnes had what should have been the game winner and Bruin had 2 assists on the day. Do you think taking those 2 players off would have stopped New England from scoring 3 goals? 3 goals should be enough to win a game. I have to give credit on Maidana, he looked really good today in the attack. Wenger was very good too... And Boniek was played great off the bench, though he and someone else failed to close down that last cross.
Cubo Fanboys/ Bruin haters are too worried about his performance (Which was actually pretty good given the circumstance) but aren't worried about why their boy can't beat either Bruin to the starting role and Manotas to the sub role but............
How much preseason did you watch? I watched every minute minus the scrimmage against the Dynamo and could of predicted what happened today: How many shots on goal did Bruin have this afternoon?
This or that about Bruin, but he was effective today. I think the team collectively was bad on two of the goals and the final goal came from losing the ball with a dumb pass to where Bruin wasn't and then sitting with everybody in the box. Still...are there really difference makers on this team? I don't know.
Rico and Alex down our spine really helped save our ass today because nobody else was going to get our team's engine running today. Our defenders looked sluggish and our outside backs n mids looked mindless and without imagination in attack. Barnes was lackluster until he hit that sitter in the second half. The man is son Caribbean football in nature that it hurts. He does not play defense and rarely shows for the ball when played up top. Glad he found his footing in the second half. Wegner played a la Mullan with his constant wide play and dedication to getting service into the box and running at defenders, that was very well received today. Horst and RR need better communication as they were husband and wife more often than not today. Our right back, whatever the fuk his name is, I don't ever want to witness him kick another ball again. Just absolute shit as a professional footballer. I have old HFA buddies that can trap and turn with a ball better than that fool. Get him off Coyle! Gifted first goal and as mentioned earlier not playing to the final whistle really did our team in today. Should have 3 points in the table today with Southern Oklahoma coming to town next week. On Bruin, com'on! Bruin was stellar! Save the fact that he does not show to the ball well, hold the ball well, dribble at all well or cause dangerous runs off the ball well. But other than that he is an outstanding #9 for our club. He is on par with Nate Jaqua. When he attempted to attack up field and forgot the ball, that was wonderful professional skills there.
Screamed from our new home in 217 after the equalizer, "SEVEN straight [bleeping] times you guys couldn't win a 2nd ball! Idiots!" When I got a chance to watch the recording, found out I was only being a little hyperbolic. After NE took the short corner at 92:00, they put in 5 crosses where Dynamo never won the 2nd ball. The goal came on the 6th try. Oh, and their possession that led to Wenger conceding the corner came from yet another horrible giveaway in midfield by Rocha, he had quite a few of those in his brief time on the field.
I've witnessed this from those Spanish footballers over the years when I was following our Hurricanes in the USL there in the early 2000's. We signed two of them in our last year in 2001 and they both were big busts after being so hyped just on playing in the Segunda. When these Spanish dudes come over to the U.S. to play football and struggle to live up to their pay grade or pedigree being gallego futboleros. What I saw from Rocha cemented this once again. But I will give him a full season, just like I did with Tony Caig.
Well an exciting start to the season and overall probably a fair result. I had 4 guys from UK with me who all watch lower league football and agreement is we would sit mid to lower league 1 level in England The Good maidana Wenger The Bad Alex Corey Ashe Award The Right Back and Big Joe Willis
First game in a Dynamo uniform. Mentioned by a long time supporter in the same post as Tony Caig. Goodbye Mr. Rocha!
Alex looked to be one of the best defensive players while playing CM. I don't get the bad rating for that. He was played out of position at left back after Beasley went out injured, and did not impress in that position. The Dynamo will have to pick up a left fullback to cover for DMB.
Decent assessment given its the first match. I would think they could play bottom of the Championship, or top of League 1, but it's hard to say since it was the first match of the season, and nobody is in form.
Well, it wasn't "a boring tie." I had fun watching this game. The game was just a few seconds too long. Wenger and Maidana: Shayt! they are the real thing! I don't get it, why would Philadelphia let those two go? At times, we could have benched all the other Dynamo players, Maidana and Wenger were doing all the attack! WENGER: As somebody pointed out, he reminded me of Mullan. He is deceivingly fast, he is a constant danger! He dribbles past players with ease and seems to be everywhere at the same time. It's minute 93 and he is still going! Great signing! MAIDANA has skills.Once the team gets used to his style of play, more great things will come. He's a stud. We wanted a technical player? well, we have us a technical player. Brad who????? ALIBABA: Wasn't pleased with this guy. I realize that he was covering for Williams, but he gave away the ball too much. I haven't rewatched the game, but i recall him giving away the ball that led to the first goal, passing the ball directly to a waiting Facundez and he then had a couple of giveaways right after that. ALEX: First few minutes and perhaps the first half, Alex was everywhere, defending and destroying plays. I was very glad to see him hustle. BARNES: If he hadn't scored a goal,I would have thought he wasn't playing. He was invisible during the first 30 min or so. He might as well hand over that captain's armband to Maidana. BRUIN: Bruin is Bruin. He'll continue to polarize the fans this year, perhaps even more so. He needs to create his own chances and needs to score. I honestly believe that if somebody else starts (Cubo, Manotas) and plays as many minutes as Bruin, we'll have a better team. Disappointed about the tie, but glad I got my money's worth watching an entertaining, high-scoring team. Then again, I was able to buy discounted tickets from a guy who couldn't go to the game.
stumbledore literally feel down trying to dribble the ball. if you missed it, check around the 70mnt if my memory serves me. HE LITERAALY STUMBLED. AGAIN. WHILE DRIBBLING.(why am i screaming?) He did have one good pass that led to the goal. so i guess our loan striker does well when he isn't shooting or dribbling. If Cubo can't make it on this team, he simply can't make it in anywhere. the philly boys showed well. seeing wenger grind it out in the 90th mnt reminded me of a certain brian mullan who used to play on the wing. maidanas quick thinking and well placed passes were refreshing. well done boys anibaba was poor. i know he is a sub and now i can see why. he constantly got stretched out wide leaving horst to cover thus forcing raul into the bad situation of having to slide over or stay put. anibaba was too far up field, too wide too often. seeing OBG at dm towards end of game was interesting. would be neat if he progressed at that role and went forward on occasion ala Cameron nguyen is a chippy turd about the last sequence: we were bunkered and the massholes where lumping it in over and over. on the second to last cross, we clear it and Barnes immediately starts whining to the ref about blowing the whistle. throwing his arms in the air, barking and pouting when the whistle doesn't come. next cross in-goal. Is it Barnes' fault that they scored? Of course not, at least not directly (or maybe--was that his man that scored? will have to go watch again). However, this was my concern about him being captain. Instead of rallying the troops, organizing the team, screaming to stay focused and play to the whistle, etc. he mentally checked out. This can't happen if you wear the armband. He can't just be captain when they are shooting a slice episode. overall liked what i saw. we clearly have a plan. we clearly are faster. we clearly are more invested (seeing the bench up and screaming-helping give direction last 10mnts of game was fantastic). we clearly have things to work on but i have no reason to believe that we can not or will not improve. PS the jerseys looked boss!
As a self-proclaimed Cubo Fanboy... I'm torn about stating that Bruin played well... but... mostly with now having options that will actually provide service (see my avatar for #9). Yes... Wenger fits that role perfectly. Comparisons to Mullan hit me as soon as I saw him during the preseason play. Seems our newbie, Wenger, will help keep Bruin around longer than I'm comfortable with. Especially... since my boy, Cubo, will probably continue collecting splinters on the bench because of that. Anyway... still hoping el Cubo gets his day in the sun. *still working on my voodoo doll*
