ahhh yes... forgot about that. that does make it more palatable. still, all of that was dead weight. now if we could FINALLY get rid of the worse-than-dead weight, jp... how much is he making?
Sorry, I never intended on it meaning "BIG SUMMER SIGNING" ... but a player from the SPR to have a great 1st half and earn an SKC contract so he can play for both teams down the stretch. I could see this with Trypak, Kelly, the Portuguese Midfielder from PortoB ... you have to have room on your roster if you want to see what they look like in MLS action in the 2nd half. I don't think there will be many big summer transactions ... don't expect one before this window closes either. More like depth signings.
Yeah, that's more at what I was thinking as well. Waiving a bunch of players covered in the cap makes it look like they're really going for somebody, since them being here was not really costing Sporting any extra money. I'd love to be super wrong. But how many windows running has it been where Sporting has looked primed to pull the trigger on something big and then have nothing happen? I'm all for leaving some cap/roster space for potential SPR guys, but these moves seem bigger money than that.
And apparently will be the starter along Besler, it the Full 90 preseason bit on the defenders today is correct
We need to keep them both healthy through Copa at least ... when we'll need them both to start possibly!
Wait, is this hamstring thing worse than it seemed? He's still limping? Cripes, we're not going to be able to count on him being healthy at all, are we?
Sporting KC's new forward signing will be 22-year-old Chilean striker Diego Rubio Kostner. He will be a young DP.— Sam McDowell (@SamMcDowell11) March 4, 2016
Rubio played for Sporting CP up until last year - looks like that Uri connection is paying dividends.
A couple weeks earlier would have been nice, but no complaints. McDowell calls him a like for like, same playing style, as dom, which would imply this really is a depth move. He looks like a fox in the box type, nice shot, puts himself in good spots, good with head and from the highlights looks solid with both feet. No idea if he can play with Dom, but maybe we don't need that with this roster.
Didn't one of the SPR assistants come over from a Portuguese club as well? The same one as the midfielder from there that came to SPR and has potential to move up to the 1st team?
Younger players are always better at adapting to Vermes and his intense style. This is what I hoped for. Especially if either this kid or Salloi pans out as the occasional wing option too.
So, with a roster of 26, that puts 4 players on the "3 deep" part of the roster. Right now I have that group as Kempin, Medranda, Hallisey and Salloi. I think/hope all 4 of those players get significant game time with SPR as long as they remain on the "3 deep" (so injuries and international absences could move them to the 2 deep for a period of time). This group would also be called up to SKC for the Open Cup games and CCL games. If you add those 4 to the SPR roster, it has 19 signed players (could go to 20 if they sign draft pick Hajderovic who I haven't heard of leaving camp). That's a solid number. It allows you add more later but also provides opportunities to bring up an Academy player (I think you can have up to 4) for a game or two when needed. I think we're most thin in the midfield so wouldn't be shocked to see a signing still happen for SPR in the middle of the field. Thoughts?
@DiegoRubio_ em vias de se transferir para a @MLS. @Sporting_CP detém 70% dos direitos económicos do ponta-de-lança. #Like— Mauro Silva (@mGTS85) March 3, 2016 Not sure what that 70% part means -- Sporting CP is either picking up 70% of his salary, or they get 70% of a transfer fee, or something like that.
I've never taken Spanish, but I want to believe "detém 70% dos direitos" translates to "his diet is 70% Doritos."
