if you're a STH check your email today......my understanding was that sometime today we (STH's) would be emailed the password for tomorrow's pre-sale. Just wish there was a way to purchase the exact same seats as our STH seats.....
"You will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to the 2016 Chipotle Homegrown Game as part of this pre-sale. The Chipotle Homegrown game will be played the night before the All Star game at Avaya Stadium. Participating teams and details to follow at a later date." So I can buy tickets to some other game with...absolutely no idea who's playing in it? At least it's not (as stated, anyway) part of a mandatory bundled purchase like the MLB, NHL or NBA All-Star games.
I'm really having a hard time caring about this game. It's so contrived, really very little competitive value, surely a friendly in every sense. Maybe if I was a Gunners fan. And the price seems kind of steep.
I figured since it is in our stadium I should take the opportunity to see it, since it probably won't be back for a long while. I also have an out of state friend who is a big Gunners fan and he wants to go, so, it is nice I can get us tickets. And yes, the prices are steep.
Not sure what history shows us but I always think how embarrassing it will be if the top players from our entire league lose at home to a single squad from Europe, so there is that angle I guess
Most of these squads that come from Europe have rosters that are almost all internationals from one country or another. They are in essence, all-star teams themselves. Except that they practice and play with each other all the time. MLS all-stars often just have players who happen to be in form up to that point of the season, and they get what? a day or two to train together?
Great points. When you put it that way, Arsenal starts to look like Goliath. Still a fair bit of pride on the line I would think.
I'm looking at this like most pro all-star games.....a game that is totally meaningless. That being said I will be buying tickets and attending it as more of an event/exhibition rather than a game.....supposedly there are events/entertainment in the evenings leading up on to the game, will be interesting to see what MLS comes up with in San Jose......unlike the super bowl I'm guessing all events will be in the San Jose area and not up in SF. As the event gets closer, if some obsessed Arsenal fan wants to over pay for a pair of tickets I might sell them......
And then you look at it from the "meaningless friendly only to draw in money and preseason warmup for the European visitors". Most likely going to be using this game as a chance to resell my 4 tickets and put that into season tix for next season.
I got mine in 120, way in the back. Best you can do for $70 or did scalpers all get the better seats?
Well, that sucked. Demand was so high they turned off the interactive seat map. Some sections were unavailable. I was in a bit of a hurry so just took what they offered up.
went on right at 10am got a couple seats in section 131 r0w 14......never have sat on that side of stadium before.
I got seats close to mine, but I feel badly for those of you with sideline seats who got stuck in the end zone. The menu showed $60 seats available, but I tried for 20 minutes and never even saw a single.
I thought that was weird too. I went on at 10 AM and debated with the wife for a while until she was happy. After about 10 or 15 min, I got about as good as I could have hoped (BC27). It seemed liked all of the seats offered to me were on the East side.
I was hoping for 106 near our season tickets but everything offered was east side......I wonder if west side tickets were blocked off by/for MLS for all the VIPS and the like......
