Can't be upset. The players gave everything they could and just lost to a better team. Promising signs for us going forward.
I was proud of that display. Madrid did not look scary or well above us. They just have that extra bit of quality that gets them those goals.

I liked the link up between florenzi and salah. Ninja had a good game and so did manolas and rudiger. Real's defense was just too perfect. Overall promising team play by Spaletti.
It hurts that they didn't even need to play to comfortably beat us 2-0 at home, just miles and miles of distance in quality. I'm not looking forward towards the 2nd match at all.
Sad we lost but I expected it. Happy we didn't get blown out. I'm sure we all know our Champions League campaign is surely over. All and all though the team didn't play that bad. We had some good opportunities and managed to get the ball into the box quite a bit which was nice. Should have had a penalty at one point and Salah was gone if they gave him advantage so game could of been different. Florenzi didn't play bad. Ya he got burned by Ronaldo but he'll it's Ronaldo. Otherwise he played well in my opinion.
He wouldn't need to be such an animal if he knew how to play football in the first place, a lot of the pressure we concede is because of him and his sidekick having no ability to handle even 4 vs 2 confrontation with the ball at their feet.
Actually Florenzi had one of his best games in a very long time, good performance by him. The goal he just got beat by Ronaldo 1 vs 1, that is what money buys you.
Well, if you read my pre-match comments, I expected much worse. We knew our team has problems with converting opportunities to goals, and in big games like these, especially when you're the underdog, you have to score some of the few chances you will get if you want to achieve something, but we couldn't. Meanwhile Real pulled two goals out their arses. That's how it's done. Again, my only ask for the return leg is don't get blown out the water.
I think by now Perrotti pretty much confirmed himself as the leader of our attack, everyone else comes after him. Dzeko again useless in the box, weak ass shot 1 vs 1 against GK and nowhere to be seen at the end of a great cross from Rudiger, like usual.
Florenzi is doing his best and for a player playing outside of his natural position he did quite well (note how much better he played when he was moved into an attacking midfielder role), however he is being setup to fail because our transfer market (AKA. Walter Sabatini) has failed to get us a proper right back for more than a couple of seasons now... I'm happy we didn't get blown out, but with a proper right back we could have easily avoided that first goal, and all of those chances Madrid had... easily.
