huge win for spurs. gains there points on the leader and inching closer to premiership title. edit: great shot at the end of the coverage with the shot of son and pot embracing.
He still needs to work on his ball handling (mostly being consistent). The difference b/w him Eriksen and Alli is that when they move with the ball it seems like the ball is magnetically attracted to their feets. SHM loses the ball way too easily
At the current moment, Son has the feel of the South Korean Theo Walcott: seemingly maddeningly inconsistent with moments of absolute brilliance. Personally, I've no problem with Son drifting into the midfield to maintain possession and to keep the ball moving forward. But his decision making and link-up play with Harry Kane are going to be very interesting developments moving forward. If we are talking specifically about the game today, I would give Son a 6.5 rating. His influence was certainly there in the early stages of the game where he almost scored. Chances like that tend to make a defense incredibly wary of your presence and pretty much ensures that the same person has a much more difficult time influencing the match. Yes, Son lost possession of the ball a couple of times. But short of the danger moment, Son didn't poise much threat in the match.
Tottenham second in the table behind Leicester by 2 points. The match against Arsenal is going to be crucial next month so mark it in your calender!

His dribbling was good for one or two guys. He tried to beat like four or five per run which was his problem.
it was frustrating watching the match because son's off the ball movement when playing defensively seemed very lacking compared to the rest of the team, and even more so when comparing directly with lamela's defensive efforts in general. seemed like his focus was getting to the general position he is expected to be in or somewhere near whoever was holding the ball, and simply reacting a couple seconds too late. rather than really hustling to regain possession. kane, alli, and eriksen seem to be everywhere all the time
Agreed. It is definitely something to be concerned about in Son's long term goals (pun intended). With Chadli being left behind as a "super sub" as of late, Son could potentially fit in that category too if Lamela keeps the competition alive within the starting lineup ...
Speaking of this game specifically, but Son's defensive efforts against Man City were good. Son pressed against the backs and really did a solid job maintaining possession for the Tottenham side. City wanted to stretch the width of the pitch and Son effectively closed down the space. If I watched more Spurs matches, I'd give more in-depth analysis on the Lamela defensive comparison; as well as the Kane, Alli, and Eriksen thoughts.
