Looks like the game was postponed or cancelled due to unplayable conditions. What happened to the turf! I know it wasn't the greatest, but it looked worst than ever! Was there a Flint water flood on it? Waza site said Blast forfeited and that the Waza will receive the win. Anyone have any details?

Here's a picture. I don't blame the Blast for refusing to play at all. Where's the Commish?!?! ;)

Completely embarrassing.... And people wonder why Mr. Hale is done with the MASL. Can you blame him.

Some people who were actually at the arena say that the pictures shown here were taken awhile before the game started, and the turf looked considerably better when the Waza Flo scrimmaged on it later. Other pictures shown on Facebook depictiing the field during the scrimmage seem to show the turf looking better, although it's hard to be sure.

I've watched a few Waza home games this year and last years indoor world cup and the turf never looked as bad as it did yesterday. I wonder what happened to it. Starting to see more and more duct tape on MASL turfs throughout the league.
The Waza originally said the Blast forfeited, but the game is postponed and the Waza do not receive the win. According to the Waza Facebook page, the Waza will play their next home game at the Fint Iceland arena due to a concert at Dort arena. Wonder if they will just go ahead and play their remaining home games at Iceland?

Every shot you have seen on facebook was from the stands and not directly on the floor , that is why it looks to be in better condition.

From what I understand the Blast game and the Heat game will not be replayed .

So, everyone that keeps insisting that the league needs rec level teams to succeed, what do you think now? I can't blame Baltimore for refusing to play. Someone needs to take a stand.

Wow.. the "arena" (soccerdome) they are going to play in next (Iceland Arena) has the old New Jersey Ironmen turf. A nearby soccersome has better turf than the arena the Waza call home.

    I'd say: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dort_Federal_Credit_Union_Event_Center
Waza Flo doesn't play in a rec center, they play in a facility that can hold over 4k people when set up for hockey. They are failing because the entire town of Flint is failing. I'd assume they spend all their money on rent leaving nothing for new/repairs to their carpet.

    But nice try!

That field was sharp years ago. I am sure it will be a big step up from the death trap at Dort. Dort looks like a nice sized (for them) and recently renovated facility however. I hope they can make it work there in the future.

Keep in mind that the Mustangs' average attendence their first year was 339. Using the standards you've suggested, the Mustangs wouldn't have been able to get their start.

The rec teams usually have the best playing surfaces because they are permanently installed in those arenas.

I was thinking the same thing. The Blast was probably calculating the cost of knee surgery was far in excess of a missed game in Flint, when you have your own league next season.

In a weird way, you're simply telling Ed Hale the very thing he has been saying. It's almost a self fulfillig prophecy.

Syd , they are also government funded buildings so the floor is actually glued down in a lot of those rec centers.

What I heard is they waited to long to bring the carpet it, when they had the scrimmage later the turf was in better shape.

They store the carpet outside in the cold , in a storage container. It should have been bought in and placed in a hallway for 24 hrs and heated to acclimate to the arena temperature... If you buy hard wood from Home Depot It needs to sit in your home for 72 hrs before it can be installed. If you don's allow it to acclimate to the room temperature , It will chip , split during the install and when it does relax it will be loose and you will get ripples and squeaks in the floor

That game might come back to be a factor in Playoff seeding now. The Blast still has a chance to finish with the top record in the "East" if they win out. The Blast would finish at 16-3, Missouri at 16-4 even though Missouri would have taken 2 of 3 from the Blast. That missing game could have made the difference there.

Will not matter due to arena availibilities. If Baltimore and Missouri would actually meet in the semifinals literally one arena has a basketball tournament booked while the other one has a circus.

I forgot the circus is in Baltimore March 16-27. Well this will make for an interesting scenario should the Blast make the finals. The last game of the season is 3/4, Harrisburg @ Syracuse. The CAA tourney is in Baltimore 3/4-3/7, so the Blast would get their 1st round and 2nd round games in most likely....but then there is the issue of the MASL Finals should they make it that far.

    Interesting post from Dominic Scicluna:

"Unfortuantely there are conflicting reports about the Baltimore games' cancellation, MASL and Waza Flo will release statements soon. We know Baltimore is being very vocal on the issue and we look forward to presenting the full story to the fans in due time."

Just posted on the MASL Facebook page:

    Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 11.22.54 AM.png

So, Dominic, the "full story" is that your field was unplayable?
