    No.

I predicted the Burn would be out of the playoffs well before this, when they still have a chance of making it. I based this on the idea that they would have far too many draws. I did not forsee a team that could beat anyone in the MLS on a good night, lose to anyone on a poor night.

While the burn are due for an up game, the ecstacy of victory has alwasy been followed by the cold slap of failure.

    Prove me wrong, boys.

    Cheers!

i think one of the problems is that we dont have enough draws...while its good that CC goes for the win in games if we had just 2 or 3 more draws we would be in good shape

I hate to say so, but I voted no. I hope I'm wrong, certainly, but I've just seen way too much lackadaisical soccer from the boys recently to believe they have it in them. They have the talent, but not the fuego.

Which makes it hurt even worse. If they had the fuego but not the talent, I'd be thrilled that they were this close. But that ain't the case.

    PROVE ME WRONG, BOYS!

(I think that should be the new Inferno motto, or at least a new chant)

I voted no... we needed a win @ NE and we did not get it. I have little hope of beating LA on the road a tie would be nice and then we have to contend w/ SJ @ home.
I hope Ronnie and Co. prove me wrong

Yes. I'm sitting on the floor because the computer desk hasn't moved to the house yet. I've got my back propped up against the foot of my bed and I'm holding my keyboard in my lap. The mouse is on a piece of paper because I don't have a mouse pad.

Oh....THAT position! Well to me, "believing" has nothing to do with logic and fact. Believing in my team is pure heart and emotion. So yeah, I believe in the Burn.

Like I've been saying for the past month or more, we're not just making the playoffs -- we're winning the Cup!

Like MP - you asked whether I believe, and the answer is yes. But it is based on hope, not expectation.

What do I expect? I expect that Buzz is right for this weekend, but I think the team will cave in the last game. :(

But - I say that from a pessimistic point of view having struggled to see what was positive from NE. If Buzz is right and the boys continue their inconsistency and win on Saturday (Sampson isn't exactly lighting it up, and they will once again be w/o Ruiz), and KC beats SJ, then we woudl have a chance. But I think overall, the inconsistency will come back on the last game....

But I do believe. It may be a hope-based belief, but belief nonetheless.

    False.

Ruiz will be available to LA because he is missing the WCQ this weekend due to yellow card accumulation.

I voted yes. Why? I don't know why. Call me stupid, but I love this team and I'm not giving up on them.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand, I'd really love to see the Burn put it all together and make a serious run for the Championship. Unfortunately, this seems very unlikely.

On the other hand, no playoffs = better chance that Clarke gets the axe this off-season.

Most likely outcome: the Burn squeak into the playoffs; Clarke clings onto his job; FC Dallas gets off to a lousy start and gets a new head coach 2/3 into the 2005 season.

    :(

Well, that doesn't change my belief. But it sure doesn't improve my expectations...

How long has it been since the team has put together two positive results in a row?

And by positive I mean 'at least a tie'.

    July 7 and July 10

Our shocking 2-1 win over San Jose AT San Jose followed by

a dreary 0-0 tie AT HOME to Columbus

But we need a WIN Saturday. If we tie and SJ wins - our last game agianst SJ is all but meaningless because even if we win, and our head-to-head record is 2-2, we would have to beat SJ by 15 goals /- because of our crappy goal differential. I think.

I voted yes for two reasons.
Steve Sampson this week and we could not possibly loose to SJ @ home next week.
I am a romantic fool... w/ Sancho Panza at my side and Rocinante my steed I charge towards my windmills (insert BURN). :)

    No.

It is not in this team to gut it out when they have to. I hate to say it, but I just don't see it.
The Dallas Burn will go quietly into that good night, not with a bang, but with a whimper.
    But until they do......

For some reason I'm leaning towards yes now....

with the news from 3rd degree that we're going to Los Angeles a day early, I have a feeling we are going to take care of business on Saturday.

I keep getting visions of major drama (ending well) in our final game, like us needing a win and being up 2-0, only to have San Jose come back to tie it 2-2 and just when we think we're going to be narrowly edged out we score a last minute goal.

:D Ok I'm putting down the crack pipe and remembering last Saturday, nevermind...

As someone who hasn't seen the team in person - only watched the few games available in the mid-west - but read all your (faithful posters) comments - I would like to be hopeful that they make the playoffs. I, along with lots of Creighton fans, as not only dissappointed that Wags hasn't gotten a sniff of the field, but are baffled as well. I will remain hopeful that they make the playoffs and that with Wags protected that maybe, just maybe, someone down there Dallas will give him a chance to play... He's gonna be a big-time player - believe me. Wish I were there to go the the fund raiser tonight - just to let him know, he's got fans that believe in him.

David was injured right before the first game - don't be baffeled, it's not his ability that has kept him off the field - just his recovery from injury.

After chatting with GE last night you can't help but feel good about this weekend. He said JK9 was the one who pushed for the team to get to L.A. a day earlier. All the players went to dinner together last night in L.A. which is something they don't normally do. Now hearing that Eddie could be back only makes the warm feeling fuzzier (is that a word?)

Where did you see that? According to ussocceruk, it was Gaven who was sent back..... (not doubting you, just wanting the source to clear up the confusion.)

Also, the DMN reported yesterday that Toni went to LA on Friday - just a day later, b/c of the illness.

I'm not a Burn fan, and I'll say no. I just dont see defending champs San Jose not making the playoffs, when the only offseason change was losing Frank Yallop. Plus I see Dallas losing their final 2 games, sorry.

lets just put it this way, if the Burn miss out on the playoffs, make sure ya'll win because I don't think I'll be able to stand any of the other teams win it...
