The german media were being absurd in 2014 - largely following the lead of the UK media. Ozil had a really great qualifying for the World Cup and also a good tourney - especially as he was asked to fill reu's left wing spot and did it without moaning But bad body language!
Must see Mesut Ozil new ad! Video: Mesut Özil shows off his skills with a piece of chewing gum in the new Adidas advert. #afc https://t.co/pTYk9EfW1N— afcstuff (@afcstuff) January 18, 2016
According to Twitter (and Marca) Mesut Ozil has rejected a contract extension with the Gunners, amid rumours that Barcelona are targeting him [Marca and Sport] While I don't give much credence to these stories, I would not be surprised if Mesut is growing frustrated with some of his teammates. particularly with the anemic return from the Theo, Ox & Joel.
He's under contract till 2018. He'll be 29 at that point, and won't make nearly as much sense for Barca to sign.
He will extend. It is in both parties interest. IMO, al that "noise" is his part of his agent's tactics to get more $$.
I feel like sooner than later the hammers just going to drop and the whole "Ozil wants out of Arsenal, will not re sign, will be sold in the summer" stuff is going to happen and be real.
I think you may be right. And I feel the same about Sanchez. It probably boils down to whether we win the league or not this year.
This little piece offers some interesting tidbits on how this "football freak" honed his skills. The full article is in the magazine which requires a subscription which I don't have. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20160319/ozil-how-i-developed-my-touch
Sanchez needs to up his game in order to feel slighted. He's been as poor this year as he was good last year.
Not sure you meant to say "slighted" but I agree he's been poor this season compared to last season. Funny, he seemed to up his game a bit, against Argentina the other night... maybe he just has a proportionately bigger role with Chile than he does w/ Arsenal? And they play him as their forward, although he still roams about, comes back deep, etc. Dunno, but I bet if he'd been healthier and on form for us this year, we'd be in 2nd place, if not first.
We start too many players that need a free role. Sanchez and Ramsey have the same issue, imo, which is that their poor positional discipline hurts us if they're not scoring goals. As good as Sanchez is, he's a solo artist.
There's been a lot of discussion about Cruyff lately. And I learned of his moniker "Pythagoras with boots". There are a few players in today's game that you could still apply that to, and Ozil is certainly one of them. How's that for getting this thread back on track?
Mesut Ozil's assists and key passes in 2015/16. Long but really amazing vision and talent. Some of his teammates misses are shocking though.

Shoot, if Walcott would get his head out of his ass, he could be that.
Ozil would have four key passes to Gervinho per game, and three assists to Gervinho all season. Gervinho did an unbelievable job off the ball, and got into some phenomenal positions. Finishing just happened to be awful.
Also, Ozil gave an interview to a France Football in preparation for Euros http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.co...erstood-that-talent-alone-was-not-sufficient/ more in the link
